Odean Smith - Reshad Primus
Primus has an excellent chance. he practically there.
Smith...not so much
In reply to imusic
Smith only 20 and hitting 140kph already.
In reply to deanjones
If he keeps fit he has a chance. At this stage I have higher hopes for Primus
In reply to Jabari18
Primus for me.
24 year old Beaton ahead of them in T20s
In reply to Narper
Beaton action too fishy for intl.
In reply to Jabari18
Not much different than many around the world playing international cricket
I really don't get excited about any young player, in this format.

Tend to agree.... the only reason I watch any CPL is to try and get a view of up and coming youngsters to see if the batters at least look as if they know how to hold a bat... the bowlers run ups, actions, speeds.... spin etc..... it is such a falsified version of cricket the stats mean very little.
Primus needs to get fitter and lose weight but as mentioned in an earlier post he looks to have something about him.
Smith was bowling at 130 in the U19 WC and can now hit 140.... if nothing else he's gained pace.

Like it or not. This is the only form of cricket WI relevant in and it is the format of the future. I am more excited to see WI in the next t20 World Cup than to watch WI miss out on Champions Trophy qualification
In reply to Narper
I like Beaton but I felt he hasn't improved a lot from the past couple years and I am worried he is falling away to the same problem that so many of our young players fell into. They start off young with lots of promise then the system lets them down and they become stunted in their development.
Primus avg 39.11 batting and 16.95 bowling FC after 7 matches and 30 .00 and 29.50 in T20.....the fact that he duplicates his good record in four day cricket going into T20 CLEARLY shows this is the start of a genuine allrounder aiming for international exposure.
Just watched recorded highlights of last nights match....Smith didn't bowl particularly well but he got it up to 145 k's.... apparently he has been doing lots of strength and conditioning work.... just shows what can be achieved with effort ... obviously now the task is to turn him into a good bowler... not just a quick one !

To each his own, to me it is just entertainment
Would not select anyone from this format, for ODI or test.
In reply to openning
I wouldn't either. I will select them for T20s
In reply to jala
is this Jala or did Idi hack the account again?
In reply to Jabari18
Agreed. This is the format the local fans are turning out to watch.
There's a reason why darren bravo chose the CPL over test cricket in England. It pays better too.

T
Is that a true statement or his case was not settle, Bravo turned down T20 to prepare for test cricket last year.
In reply to tc1
If the WICB wanted to, they could easily have included Lil Bravo in the Test squad as a 16th or 17th player....
But Lil Bravo is being paid significantly more to play for Trinbago than he is for a Test tour of England.
A lot has worsened between now and last year...especially in terms of the relationship between Lil Bravo and Dave Cameron. Lil Bravo has probably taken his brother's advice, and decided to look out for numero uno.
Isn't it convenient that Lil Bravo will be available for the ODI series, which starts once the CPL ends? I don't blame him....
Having watched Odean Smith bowl, he does look promising from a short run-up. He can generate good pace from those broad shoulders. If he keeps it up, he could make the WI T20 team.
In reply to jala
I like Smith but he looks a little too muscular to be a durable fact bowler. His upper body appearance reminds me of Gabriel and Kemar Roach of recent vintage.
Primus needs to stop frequenting Chefette
