The reason the US does not produce top class sprinters anymore is that the gifted athletes are playing team Sports?

Superb. Bolt is a lucky man our best gave up track.
Did they do a comparison to Beijing 2008 or Berlin 2009?

You are not a reasonable person, do not use this thread to make up for your treachery against people who you left behind....in more ways than one!

It's not enough to be fast, you also have to be good in football or any sports outside of track and field.
I think the best people in track, will stick to track. It might just be cyclical.

You are basing this on what? It is much easier to make mega bucks in a team Sport than pursue it in Track.
The fact that you have to be more than just fast to play other Sports highlights the fact that people are choosing to learn other disciplines than simply hone their natural talent...again see exhibit A!

I am basing it off this. He was less than average in football.

The point you are making is separate and wholly distinct from mine.
My point is ridiculously fast athletes in the US are often pointed to team sports by their schools and coaches because they are more glamorous than Track and also increase the Schools chances of landing great athletes.

Dude nfl/American football had faster runners playing football when it dominated track!
OJ ,Jim Brown etc

Sure. But now you have not only the naturally fast who are gravitating to Team sports but those who start of in track who are being pushed to Team sports by schools later in the process.
Thus you have less of a pool of top natural athletes competing and pushing each other.
O.j. and Brown liked football early. Others, are pushed into it because their teams crave more speedy players and entice them with the scholarships.
30 years ago a guy like tyreek Hill displays that kinda speed in High School? He would be called on by the President to represent the US in Track.
