After five weeks of music, dancing, flag-waving and cricket, the CPL party bus makes its last stop in Trinidad, and promises to arrive in high spirits at the Brian Lara Stadium. It will be the table-toppers of the league stage, the two most consistent teams in the tournament that will battle it out for the title. For St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, this is uncharted territory, having made the final for the first time.

Gayle was unbeaten in his last two innings. That included a grinding half-century in the first Qualifier that lifted his team to a reasonable score that proved 38 too many for Knight Riders. With three half-centuries in his last five innings, he brings with him good form apart from a wealth of T20 experience.

Yasir Shah's first match for Knight Riders, as a replacement for countryman Shadab Khan, was unspectacular as he bowled only two overs and leaked 21 runs. However, there is little doubt that he is still an important member of the Knight Riders side and will be expected to do a better job in the final. Yasir's deceptive angles and variations may just be what Knight Riders seek to curb a strong Patriots line-up.

Chris Gayle:
'Runs on the board will be important. Dew will be a factor, but the team chasing will be under pressure. My thoughts are with people affected by the hurricane, we are looking forward towards posting a good score. No changes for us as well.'
Narper
2017-09-09 20:44:18
Dwayne Bravo:
'We will bowl first, will look to restrict them to a low total. This is a small ground and defending will be tough. The guys are looking forward to this game, I think this will be the best final in CPL history. We are playing an unchanged XI.'

'The grass is pretty evenly spread, the pace and bounce will be consistent, should be a good batting track. Dew will be a factor, but it will not be significant', reckons Darren Ganga, in the pitch report.

Gale gawn @!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.1
Searles to Gayle, out Caught by Yasir Shah!! That's a huge blow for the Knight Riders, the big man has been dismissed cheaply. Searles strikes with his first ball, it was a gentle loosener outside off, Gayle wasn't fully forward on the drive, played with an open face and drove it in the air towards point. Simplest of chance for Yasir at point and he gobbles it up. Celebrations begin in the Knight Riders camp.

Searles to Hafeez, out Caught by Christian!! The pressure has told on the Patriots and they have lost a second wicket here. No boundaries so far and Hafeez was trying to manufacture one, instead, he holes out to mid-off. On a good length and just outside off, Hafeez was forward on the drive, doesn't bother to keep it down and finds Christian at mid-off.

Shamsi to Tariq, out Caught by B King!! A stunner from King, he's claiming the catch and Tariq is walking. This was tossed up on off, Tariq didn't read the spin, was looking to nudge it towards the on-side, closed the bat face early, gets a fat leading edge towards cover. It always looked like it was dropping short of the fielder, but Kings rushed forward, dived full length and comes up with a one-handed blinder, made sure that the elbows didn't hit the ground as he scooped the catch

Hafeez to Christian, out Christian Run Out!! 1 run completed. Glum faces in the TKR dug-out as they lose another, the aggressive Christian has run himself out and has left his team in a soup. Excellent throw from Carter, flat and one-bounce into the keeper's gloves. Christian was sprawling on the dive, but is at least a couple of yards short. Coming to the ball, it was dropped short and just outside off, Christian backed away and chopped it behind square on the off-side

Shamsi to Searles, out Caught by Lewis!! Searles loses his head and his wicket! Looks at the celebrations in the Patriots camp, Shamsi follows the dab dance with a punch right into Brathwaite - who feigns a collapse. The party has just begun for Chris Gayle and his men, beautifully disguised wrong 'un, Searles didn't spot it as he slogged across the line, gets a thick leading egde - high and towards long-off. Lewis rushed in and nearly lost the ball, takes it on the rebound.

Ramdin - I am just happy to have won the game, Cooper played an amazing innings, took the pressure off myself. Our bowlers did a great job, Narine was stunning, the early wicket of Gayle helped. Narine's spell was superb, we would have taken 135 at the toss.
Darren Bravo - We had the belief in Cooper, we knew he could win us the game. He was under a lot of pressure, but batted very well. ramdin batted really well, I am very happy with the win and for the team.

Narine - I think this win shows anything is possible in cricket. Hopefully, we will go from strength to strength now. We have a great support staff, everyone has chipped in for this victory. We will celebrate this tournament win in true Trinidad style, this being my first CPL victory.
Cooper - This win means a lot to me, just enjoying the moment now. Once I went in, I told to Ramdin that we should take the game till the end, even if we needed 15 from the last over, we would have a chance. I just wanted to bat around Ramdin, we wanted to take the chance in the 19th over. I just wanted to stay focused and wanted to watch the ball closely. Thankful for the crowd who really backed us.

Simon Katich, TKR Head Coach - With three overs to go, the Patriots were bossing around. Ramdin was outstanding while it was a stunning innings from Cooper. We sent Bravo up the order as he was struggling with his hamstring and we felt he could use the batting powerplay. The unity in this team is brilliant, everyone plays for the other, there are a couple of brothers around and there are a couple of sisters amongst our support staff.

Chadwick Walton gets the award for the 'Stylish moment'
Chadwick Walton is the Player of the tournament for his 458 runs
Walton - I am very happy to be a part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Gutted that we didn't get to the final, but that's cricket, one has to win and one has to lose. I miss Chris (Gayle) at the top of the order, but happy to be a part of this team. Kesrick (Williams) is a great friend of mine, he had celebrated my dismissal in Guyana, I wanted one back. Hoping to bat consistently in England with the West Indies national team.

Kevon Cooper is the Man of the Match
Cooper - I thought we had an easy target. But we didn't bat well in the first six, when I went in, I just told Ramdin that we will stick in and bat till the end. I was waiting for them to bowl to my strengths. I have been practicing hard, just happy that it came out on a special night. I have been with this franchise for five years, happy with the moment, was waiting for such a day to happen. I had a hamstring injury, hence didn't bowl the 20th over. This win is for all the fans

Gayle - Congrats to Dwayne and his team, they were magnificent throughout the tournament. To the St.Kitts people, to the owners and to the team - you were fantastic and I am so proud of you guys. You were outstanding and it's disappointing that we couldn't apply the finishing touches. Both myself and Lewis didn't get going tonight. It's easy to say we were 20 runs short, but we were in the game until the last two overs. Credit to Ramdin and Cooper, proud of the team's efforts. Not upset with the 19th over, the dew had taken effect and it was difficult to grip the ball. Harsh to blame Hilfy for the over, they had some momentum going into the over. A lot of credit goes to Simmons and the coaching staff. Not sure where I will be in the next year, but this has been a wonderful journey.

Dwayne Bravo - Thanks to the almighty god, thanks to the people who came out in huge support. Credit to the team, they played hard and deserved to win, as for myself, not exactly well, but this has been fantastic. Happy that we made the country proud, they have always backed us. We had specific plans for both Gayle and Lewis - credit to the analysts. The plan was to bowl full to Evin and it paid off. We wanted to go out there, stick to the plans and go further. I was a bit nervous, but I think this team is destined for greatness. We play as a team, we are a family, we never needed Cooper a lot before with the bat, but he came good when we needed it. We perform as a team, someone or the other comes to the party whenever we need it. Trinidad and Tobago - this is for you. Thank You very much.

It's time for the Champion dance as Dwayne Bravo lifts the winner's trophy. He's soon engulfed by the rest of the teammates. The crowd simple can't stop celebrating. It's early Sunday morning in Tarouba, but the celebrations will continue late into the night. Disappointment for Gayle & Co, but they played a part in this specatacle.
That ends another season of the Caribbean Premier League. It has been a delight for us to bring all the action - from St. Lucia to Florida, from PoS to Guyana, from Barbados to St. Kitts and finally from Jamaica to Tarouba. Hope, you enjoyed it as well. For now, cheers and bye..
