& THE PEOPLE IN THE REGION MUST ADDRESS

IS THIS ?????

Is it better to upgrade their Building
Codes , so that Houses & Buildings can
withstand some Hurricanes ?????

Or Refuse to upgrade their Building Codes and when Hurricanes hit their
Countries spend millions of Dollars .

Yes I am fully aware of the fact that
upgrading the Building Codes will cost
Home Owners & potential Home Owners
to spend more money .

However in the long run I believe that it will be more beneficial from a financial perspective to upgrade the
current Building Standards in the Region regarding Structures ability to withstand some Hurricanes .

The alternative is to continue with the same Building Codes , and when Hurricanes hit the Region , shell out millions of Dollars ; and the Economy of the Countries in the Region take a
Financial Hit .

building codes are adequate, lack of enforcement is the problem.

a man with a mortgage is adequately protected, because both the lender and the insurer supervise activities.

I understand that , it is obvious that the Lender is going to ensure that
He/She does not lose money .

I also agree with your statement regarding Enforcement . My take is that the Governments in the Region need to understand that it is a losing proposition if their Enforcement Officers , turn a blind eye , or are on the take .

Because essentially it means that not
only the Governments Economies Suffers , but the Public in general
also suffers .

Building codes are one thing and quite important but if said governments can be bought by developers, many places where the homes are being built are death traps

Quite the opposite.

There are some things government should not be involved in, this is not one of them.

Just like the environment, if government is not involved, businesses are going to take short cuts.

I hear you , My take is that the end result is that Governments are spending millions & millions of Dollars , when it is possible to spend less money by strict Enforcement .

I am a temporary resident in Canada and I see it happening by big developers

I saw homes being built across from Garbage dumps in Ontario, one knows that
the contaminants will leach as snow and rain fall.

Remember Buffalo NY.

Developers have ways of getting around regulations.

Did Buffalo give developers permission to build on polluted lands?

Did they not have regulations?

Were there fewer regulations about the water problem in Flint?
