The question seems not whether Lewis' talents will be seen throughout the world in the coming years, but if this will be confined to T20, with some one-day internationals throw in, or will extend to Tests too. Penney is convinced that Lewis can replicate David Warner's journey from T20 into a successful Test cricketer: "He would flourish because he has a sound technique."
Lewis is elusive on Test cricket. "I won't say I don't want to play. Actually, if I do get the opportunity I would be interested but you know how things go sometimes. So let's wait for the right moment to see what happens."
hmmmmm.....
Gayle the mentor
"Everybody keeps calling me the young Chris Gayle," he chuckles. "I think I'm similar to how he bats. We work on a regular basis - almost every time together in the nets. He keeps talking to me, telling me to keep being myself, keep being positive, and keep doing my thing. In the wicket it's the same - he always tells me to keep my shape when I go after the bowling. He's a guy who's really helped me in my cricket so far."

Nice article
I want to see how he copes with the period where bowlers target his greatest weaknesses. If he plays IPL then I won't have to wait long
Once he gets through that, only Bajan whining will be left as an obstacle on the road to global success

Against England early in the year, he changed his game. Good to see Gayle keeps encouraging him to play his style of play. Saw many balls against England that Lewis would normally cut, he was pulling and getting out.
Won't it be a sight if he and Gayle get's going in them ODIs.

I remember the matches against India where he played or tried to play very circumspectly. I suspected at the time that he was playing to instructions but maybe he decided to adopt a particular role.
I think you're right. With Gayle as his partner, he may play this series more freely and more of his natural game. And if both get going, it will be a sight indeed.
We'll soon see

Perhaps he is better in the shorter format, but why even compare?
One is 25 , one is 38 this year.
In any case Gayle's record is far superior, but again what's your point?

When the talking start so early in their career they more often than not get their mouths pushed between their arse
How can anyone in their right senses compare Lewis to Gayle?

Why not? They both play cricket.

On current form he seems to be doing better than Gayle. But Gayle is the benchmark of t20 batting. And as exciting as Lewis is, I still believe that most teams will prefer to see the back of Gayle early than Lewis. No disrespect to the youth. He is one of the youngsters I am most excited to See

And I agree with Nick,of course you can compare players, and in that comparison its clear that Lewis is right up there with Gayle so far..

Maybe he should stick to lickit T20 and show off his 6-hitting talent there. This level is a big step up
