Well who is preferred? A batsman that scores around thirty fairly often or a batsman who scores a fifty once every ten innings but single digits every ten innings after?

The bench mark for test batsman....
... is 50 every 3 t0 4 innings
...so neither of the players mention should be playing tests...even at minnow level!

I agree that none of those batsmen should be playing Test cricket, but the empty cupboard WI cannot afford to give up on the Batsmen that score runs in the thirties and forties occasionally, for example Samuels who had a extended career doing that, because there are no other options. I think and I hope Powell does become more consistent, he seem to have the ability to be better than what he is at this time.

Samuels
Innings 127/31
50+ every 4

Well that is an average, he had many bad patches, but when he got going he got going. His Test average is barely above 30 runs per innings
... then is back to regular programming.
Shithound drop him, seriously drop him skunt.
