People rarely take the time to be positive - success is an expectation.

But people always have time to be negative. They'll go out of their way to find time to write essays and essays about what they perceive to be wrong.

Enjoying success is hard for some people - because they see it as a direct contradiction to the complaints and ongoing negativity they have displayed.

I'm with you mit! These boys showing real strong signs and look closer than any other Windies team in the last 20 years. A brave couple of tests in England and success in Zim is making me real excited for NZ.

Baby steps.

Agendas.

WI lose a test series at home to Pakistan for the first time ever
WI lose ODI series at home to Pakistan
WI lose T20 series at home to Pakistan
WI lose to Afghanistan in ODI match at home
WI lose to India at home as expected
WI win a test match against England in England
WI lose test and ODI series to England away as expected
WI beat England in T20 match (expected...but then again...that’s not the “agenda” team that won that match)
WI on top against Zimbabwe away (pick ‘em?)

Summary:
West Indies T20 team is and has been the most successful of the West Indies teams. That they win is not a surprise. No “improvement” there. They perform largely as expected.

West Indies ODI also performs as expected and continues to take lixx. Lose to Afghanistan at home being a particular low point.

The test team won a test match away against England and a test match at home against Pakistan . But still lost both series. They perform largely as expected....except for the one MAJOR upset against England.

The West Indies test team has beaten teams on par with them in the past (remember vor’s “6 in a row” lyrics). Having the upper hand on Zimbabwe is no surprise and doesn’t constitute improvement.

Unless.....one has an agenda that is cool

Sometimes, imusic, negativity is ingrained into the way you outlook on life and you're unable to tell the difference anymore.

For example, let me take a look at your list:

WI lose a test series at home to Pakistan for the first time ever - Pakistan were the #1 or #2 test nation in the world at that point after wins against Australia/England etc and the West Indies lost the series 2-1.

WI lose ODI series at home to Pakistan - Please see above

WI lose T20 series at home to Pakistan - underperformed and disappointing

WI lose to Afghanistan in ODI match at home - no arguments here, a serious low point

WI lose to India at home as expected - as expected, but impressive individual performances and developments within that

WI win a test match against England in England - this match gets one small line? Unearthing a young man like Hope and seeing Kraigg and a few others come of age? One line?

WI lose test and ODI series to England away as expected - as expected.

Negativity is when you find the worst of every situation. Negativity is when you set unrealistic expectations for yourself or others in your own mind. Negativity is when you set standards that are unachievable. Negativity is comparing very different teams in different stages of their evolution, with different leadership, to teams of the past and thinking it's fair to do so.

Prior to the last 12 months, the Windies test side had won 3 matches in the last 3 years. If they beat Zimbabwe 2-0, it will have been 5 wins from the last 11 tests, including wins against Pakistan #1 at the time away from home, Pakistan #2 in the world at the time at home and England #2 in the world away from home.

Negativity is finding a reason to bring down those trying to be optimistic, just so your misery has some company.

Believe for a few minutes that there are no conspiracies, there are no agendas and some people just love the team, want to see it do well and like to share that enthusiasm.

Come on now, I think that's why it gets depressing with the Windies fans sometimes when no one can be happy unless it's their boy putting up the numbers.

Cheer up a little! big grin

It has not been a dominant performance

overall. It was only in the last session

of the third day that WI took command.
