Virat Kohli: I don't think the wicket has so many demons in it. The spinners will come into play from day 3 onwards.
First two days will be challenging for the batters. The surface does have grass but does not look that threatening. We have 5 batsmen, Saha, two all-rounders in Ashwin and Jadeja, Umesh, Bhuvi and Shami.

Dinesh Chandimal: We will have a bowl first. We played some good cricket in UAE. The team put their heart and soul in it. From the last tour, we have made three changes. Today, we are going to 6 batters, 4 bowlers and a fast bowling all-rounder.

1st ball wicket

0.1
Lakmal to Rahul, out Caught by Dickwella!! Tragedy strikes first ball for India. Whatta start for the Lankans. That ball landed around off, seamed away, bounced a wee bit and took the mild edge of the bat to nest into the mitts of the keeper. The batsman had to play at it and not the ball that a batsman with seven consecutive fifty plus scores would want to face first up. Rahul got squared up and the rest was done by the umpire. Rahul c Dickwella b Lakmal 0(1)

Kohli has always struggled in his career against fast swing bowling

Pujara and Rahane are probably happy they called off play

Shanaka to Rahane, out Caught by Dickwella!! Now you can blame this shot as much as Dhawan's. Rahane has looked fidgety for a while. He's used to a higher strike rate, perhaps, but this isn't the pitch. He checked a drive last ball to mid-on, perhaps wanted to compensate this ball, and edges it to the keeper. Gets a front foot stride to drive but this pitch has seam and bounce, that plot's Rahane's downfall with a thin edge to the keeper. Rahane c Dickwella b Shanaka 4(21)

IND 30/4 (17.3 Ovs)

INDIA 352/8 decl

Lakmal to Kohli, SIX, in the airrr and that's a lovely hit over the rope. 18th Test hundred for Virat Kohli, his 50th international hundred and the 11th Test hundred as captain as well. What a shot to get there and he's pumped. Roars and fist pumps in delight and India have declared. This was a short of a length delivery on the stumps, Kohli steps out and drives inside out over wide long-off to get to the milestone and now he rushes off the field

When England faced India recently in a test series, was James Anderson swinging the ball? I know that Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami are able to swing the ball fairly prodigiously in Indian conditions. I'm pretty sure Anderson was swinging it as well, but for whatever reason, he wasn't able to dismiss Kohli.

What a good spell by Kumar!

SL will be happy to escape.

If there were 10 overs of play again it could have been a win for India.

Dickwala delay de game

Shami now has a gesture with hands at Dickwella. He is taking a lot of time here to take strike. Tension in the air.

Kohli during the chat was seen pointing at Dickwella as he was clearly not happy with him taking a lot more time before taking strike. Umpire Llong had to pursue the skipper to be ears to what he had to say. Okay, now it is Jadeja.

It was a very fast moving game.

Pity the rains fell for the most part of two days.
