Top of the table PCL clash begins today
When Shivnarine Chanderpaul made his regional debut for Guyana, some of the current players were on the T&T Red Force team were not even born yet and others were in school.
Today, the 43-year old will pad up yet again to face the local team as round four of the Digicel Regional PCL tournament bowls off at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. The match will be a day/night affair and will get off at 2pm.
Chanderpaul who has over 27,000 First Class runs to his name and an average of 54.51 will lead the Guyana batting against the T&T Red Force, who are on a high after defeating the Windwards Volcanoes in their last encounter at the Queens Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

Good team for Red Force, however, I prefer seeing Jangoo batting lower down where he will be more productive. Keeping and having to bat at the top in the longer version of the game isnt easy. Also he has shown little patience at the top. Looking at the Jaguars batting with 7 left hand batsmen an off break bowler will be more effective.
In reply to sgtdjones
You mentioned Ramdin twice. I believed you left out Webster and Charles
In reply to azadtnt
Ramdin plays two positions, wicketkeeper and in the covers , so I mentioned him twice.
In reply to sgtdjones
Charles missing to complete the 12, Solozano from the 12 will sit.
In reply to azadtnt
Ramdin and Jangoo has been sharing keeping duties but full time keeping and top order batting is tough to do.
Plus this is just my thinking but I think the openers have been told or encouraged to go at it from the start this season because from my memory Solozano and Jangoo last season were much more sedate.
what games is that in the scoreboard ?? Guyana vs WIndwards?

Cariah was reported by on-field umpires Danesh Ramdhanie and Gregory Brathwaite, along with reserve umpire Kellman Kowlessar, for a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct during the match between Red Force and Windward Islands Volcanoes at Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Match referee Michael Ragoonath reprimanded Cariah, after he breached paragraph 1.3 of the Code of Conduct by using language that was obscene, offensive or insulting, when he yelled an expletive after being dismissed caught in the 44th over of the Red Force first innings, one run short of a half-century.
The player admitted to the offence and accepted the imposition of the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
So ya cant cuss!!!!

Why is Red force bowlers bowling 3 ft outside the off stump
They need a tap pon their head.
They are lucky to get one wicket the batsman should have left that ball alone.
We have no chance of beating Guyana, they would bat us out of this match, they are playing for a draw,at the same time making sure they can't lose. The chances are,we are more likely to lose.

I feel for you bro...can't fight the Jaguars and at the same time fend off VOR's support.
It is a hurculean ask. None of the teams evere recovered from it.
But in all seriousness...if the bowlers are bowling that wide, how do you expect the batsmen to score? YOu just don't go and throw the wicket aay. Guyana showing the Shiv impact already.
Yeah, allyuh talk nah!
Tage Chanderpaul should continue to make runs and hopefully get into the Windies team,it will be something to see him,and KB blocking the life out of all those big fast bowlers around. It may do us some good.
In reply to googley
Wrong wrong wrong! Shiv disciplined, experienced and knowledgeable enough to encourage his son and allow him to flow into his game. Why put pressure on him! The game dictates....

I suppose Ramdin knew we couldn't beat Guyana so it was better going for the draw.TBH, TT doesn't have the bowleng to worry Guyana.TT prepared a wicket to avoid a cutarse.

I will talk to the bossman. Basically it is the same as you are doing now, but in the scorecard.
Keon is quite pacy, with a good off-stump line. Getting a bit of movement away from the left-handed Jangoo.
Somebody will be lbw or caught behind off Keon or Keemo.

Quite good commentary team for this match.
I hope that young Jangoo avoid the IPL and the rest,he seems quite an attacking batsman and could make it at the top.Last season he wasn't bad,and showed he's no slouch. If he continues for a season or 2 Mr.selector will have to show some interest.
In reply to granite
Bro, ah hear wat u sayin and I agree about his talent, but isn't the IPL the "top" if you are a cricketer?
It is where a cricketer, and particularly a West Indian, can earn a living. Who would want to hang their heart and hat for the WICBC, after the way they have treated players over the years.
In reply to granite
Why would you hope that a young player avoid making it to the pinnacle of his profession?
In reply to imusic
Since when IPL is the pinnacle of a cricketers profession?? Wunna need to stop fooling wunna self with that crap. T20 is nothing more than fast money cricket. Yes you can make a very good living but Test cricket will always be the standard for any true cricketer.
T20 is just the icing on the cake.
Keep your head on young Jangoo and look to build a good Test career for the West Indies.

Hang in Team 10 overs to go
Motie will be a handful in years to come. He is no less dangerous than Permaul or Bishoo. Very tall. Delivers from very high and will get bounce where others won't.
St Clair looking like decent batsman.
T&T 68-6 in 30 overs.
If anything, this wicket probably suits Guyana more.
Tony Gray says he's quite impressed by the Guyana bowling. Keemo believes in himself and the others are very competitive. Lots of discussion about Permaul's contributions to Guyana's regional successes.
The Guyana Cricket Board local professional franchise in Guyana comes in for praise too.
Motie again, to Imran Khan, bowling a very full and consistent length. Maiden.
T&T 68-6 in 31 overs.
Permaul continues, to St Clair. Permaul opened the bowling and has bowled unchanged. Maiden.
T&T 68-6 in 32 overs.
Motie again. Imran drives it straight back for 4! He's getting impatient.
72-6 in 33 overs. Imran 11*, St Clair 3*.
Permaul - yet again!!!
Long hop goes unpunished. Length back, but straying outside off. He's tiring.
73-6 in 34 overs.
Bowling change. Keemo returns. Bowling with a very fluent action. Suddenly, the energy returns. Imran following the ball well. Keemo bowling right in the off stump channel, on an excellent length.
75-6 in 35 overs.
Permaul again!!!! Imran quite defensive to the middle-off line. Maiden.
75-6 in 36 overs.
St Clair to face Keemo now. Imran has a word with him before the over. Leg bye to one just outside leg. Imran looking soild against Keemo, but driving a bit too much at balls in the off stump channel.
Keemo right on target with a series of quick off cutters. Keemo switches to outside the off stump and Imran drives him nicely thru the covers for 4!!!!
T&T 80-6 in 37 overs.
Permaul is finally off and Motie takes over.
Red Force ...80/6 (37.0 Ov)

Ok Team 3 overs ta go
Imran looking quite good against Keemo. Getting right behind the ball.
91-6 in 41 overs.
Motie to continue. Over the wicket to Imran, who's watchful. Maiden.
T&T 91-6 in 42 overs.
Keon replaces Keemo, to St Clair.
Loosener outside off driven to point for 2.
Drives the next ball just outside off beautifully thru the covers for 4!
Joseph looks tired.
T&T 98-6 in 43 overs.

Motie again. Where's Rutherford? Motie continues over the wicket. Looking to get the batsman bowled or caught behind. St Clair facing. Sweeps it to fine leg for 4! T&T 100 up.
Motie switches back to around the wicket, between stumps and ump.
T&T 102-6 in 44 overs. About 3 overs to go, in the remaining 7 minutes of play today.
Keon again. Looking less rusty now, but not really giving it all. Guyana fielders seem a bit resigned for the rest of the day. Keon misses his run up half way thru the over.
T&T 103-6 in 45 overs.
Motie to continue. Two minutes left. Imran takes a single off the first ball. St Clair blocks and ambles a single off the second.
Motie goes back to over the wicket. Single to square leg by Imran. Switches back to around.
T&T 106-6 in 46 overs. Imran 20*, St Clair 26*. Close of play.
