Thousands of prisoners were freed on tteh weekend.
Bottom line - the West went in to loot yet again after that catastrophic earthquake and ilife has deteriorated big time since. And it was always hard since teh racist French, Brits and AMericans never forgive them for succeeding in their revolution.

Most of the rest of the Caribbean has failed Haiti.

Yes, we failed Haiti. One example: None of our nations have even symbolically, taken France at the UN to ask them to repay the loot they left with.

Guyana is getting a seat in the PC as part of the rotating system, would love to see them on behalf of CARICOM bring this up.

I confess that until a few years ago I knew very little about Haiti - OK, I still don't - to the extent that I wasn't aware it shared the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. I thought it was just an island on its own.

The Dominican Republic has the largest economy (according to the U.S. State Department and the World Bank) in the Caribbean and Central American region and is the seventh-largest economy in Latin America.[23][24] Over the last 25 years, the Dominican Republic has had the fastest-growing economy in the Western Hemisphere – with an average real GDP growth rate of 5.3% between 1992 and 2018.[25] GDP growth in 2014 and 2015 reached 7.3 and 7.0%, respectively, the highest in the Western Hemisphere.[25] Recent growth has been driven by construction, manufacturing, tourism, and mining. The country is the site of the third largest (in terms of production) gold mine in the world, the Pueblo Viejo mine.[26][27]

The Dominican Republic is the most visited destination in the Caribbean.[28] The year-round golf courses and resorts are major attractions.

What's the border between the DR and Haiti like?

Tbere is a river that divides both countries and a bridge that links both sides with a police checkpoint that allows haitians to enter for the day to sell stuff or deport them .the dom side is heavilly fortified with concrete walls and razor wire.

Haiti's Prime Minister Ariel Henry has landed in Puerto Rico after apparently being unable to return to his country.

According to local media, he arrived in the capital San Juan on Tuesday after flying from the US state of New Jersey.

For the past few days, Mr Henry's whereabouts had been unknown following a visit to Kenya.

Henry looking for an army to keep him in power instead of sticking to the election deal, years ago - that's barefaced robbery!

The former colonialists are happy, they wanted to make Haiti a fail State for centuries and it is continuing to go down that road. However, there are rumors now of a civil war starting, but what will they be fighting for other than a few gangs trying to get control of the country and start enriching themselves.
