India announces steps to implement a citizenship law that excludes Muslims
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on Monday announced rules to implement a 2019 citizenship law that excludes Muslims, weeks before the Hindu nationalist leader seeks a third term in office.
The Citizenship Amendment Act provides a fast track to naturalization for Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians who fled to Hindu-majority India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan before Dec. 31, 2014. The law excludes Muslims, who are a majority in all three nations.
Seeing the headline, I thought all current Muslim Indians would lose their citizenship. But it's just 'immigrants' Modi is talking about.
At least Christians are safe.

Chinese safer!
Modi holding people to account, no one is allowed to impose another faith!
You in your small corner and I in mine!
New law - It declared that Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians who fled to Hindu-majority India from mainly
Muslim Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan before December 31, 2014, were eligible for citizenship.
Not bad Modi, a gotta cut you some slack for treating with the underprivileged, persecuted, and disenfranchised!

Is T&T accepting people from Venezuela.
You don't accept citizens from CARICOM ..benches for them at airports
Here we have individuals who have never been to India making comments ...amazing

The BS you post is often mind boggling and you claim you are a historian...let me learn you about the Taj Mahal
The Shah used money from Indian citizens public money to build his monument and was jailed for such where does grift show up
Construction on the Taj Mahal began under Shah Jahan in 1632, a few years after Mumtaz Mahal died while giving birth in 1631. There are still 22 sealed/ locked doors in the Taj Mahal.
Shah Jahan got the money to build the Taj Mahal from a lot of different sources, such as taxes, farming, and gifts. He also makes money by taking over different lands in India. He spent all of his money on building sites like the Taj Mahal, the Red Fort, and others.
His son Aurangzeb actually put Shah Jahan in jail because he spent no money towards his people. He only used citizens money to build things. He also said that the whole Mughal Empire was in trouble during his time. There was a lot of state money (called Khajana) that Shah Jahan spent, but it was all for the sake of his dead wife. Aurangzeb didn't like how public money was being spent on such a show. Because his father had done something wrong, he had to punished him. It was more important to him to protect public funds, and he didn't spend a dime on himself.

The problem is the definition they have cooked up- they are asking tens of thousands of people who are Muslim, to prove you are Indian- and as you know, among poverty stricken people, and as is common in India, Bangladesh and that part of the world, these folks don't have birth certificates as is 80% of India's poor folks.
It is impossible to distinguish between a Begali Indian- those from the state of Calcutta, and Bangladeshi Bengali for example- their DNA, their language everything is the same, except for religion.

Wait a moment. Do you mean Muslims are also being persecuted in those great Islamic Theocracies in the subcontinent ? If so why don't they flee to another great Islamic State like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Yemen etc. Why do they flee to India, the land of the cow and stone worshiping pagans. Or are they fleeing there to start establishing some madrasas? Your preoccupation and hatred for Indians and descendants of Indians is mind boggling.

There is a simple solution. Use your influence on your friends in the great T&T government to accept them as refugees. After all they are Muslims, God's saintly children.

It's amazing how people who know f..k all about the history of India or the brutal Islamic invasion and occupation of the subcontinent cannot resist chiming in with snarky derogatory remarks when the topic pertains to anything Indian. The in house imam is going crazy as India's economic development accelerates whilst the neighboring Islamic Theocracies are in shambles just waiting for the next military coup.

This data provides information which can be used to make a difference.’
Unfortunately, the data was collected before COVID but, she says, the report shows there were major reductions in poverty in India.
The numbers of MPI poor reduced from 55% of the population to some 16% in fifteen years. PM Modi is aiming to get to 1%.
‘It’s a massive reduction,’ she says. ‘Both for India and at a global scale. That really is cause for hope.’
There is no magic bullet for poverty but this information provides understanding

I recently returned from my third visit to India in 15 years and was surprised by how much the country has changed.
Over 500 million middle-class individuals are motivated working. With a university education
More than 900 million people are under 30 years old.
Approximately 200 million people have received university education outside of India.

It says 45 trillion...todays money almost 90 trillion
From diamonds to marbles and stones to rings, during the colonial period, the Britishers took a lot of objects and many remain unreturned.
Check your Royal Jewels
How much wealth did England take from India?
Nearly $45 trillion in 200 years.Between 1765 and 1938, the drain amounted to £9.2 trillion (equal to $45 trillion), taking India’s export surplus earnings as the measure, and compounding it at a 5% rate of interest. Indians were never credited with their own gold and forex earnings.
This story takes a major hit with the publication of a new study by prominent economist Utsa Patnaik from Columbia University Press. Using extensive tax and trade records spanning almost two centuries, Patnaik determined that between 1765 and 1938, Britain stole nearly $45 trillion from India.
This is how it functioned. The East India Company deftly utilized a third of the taxes it collected in India to pay for the acquisition of Indian commodities by the British. Basically, British businessmen "bought" products from peasants and weavers in India using money that had just been stolen from them; therefore, the things weren't really paid for.
The gold and silver that were supposed to go to the Indians as payment for their exports instead ended up in London.
India had a sizable trade surplus with the rest of the world that lasted for 30 years in the early 1900s, but because of this corrupt system, Britain took the entirety of India's real export income, making it appear as a deficit in the national accounts.
British imperial aggression, including the 1840s invasion of China and the 1857 repression of the Indian Rebellion, was fueled by the windfall from this fraudulent system. This was in addition to the money the Crown had already taken from Indian taxpayers to fund its wars. The expense of any British invasion outside Indian territory was "always wholly or mainly charged to Indian revenues," as Patnaik notes.
In his analysis of colonial India's economy from 1765 to 1938, Patnaik separates the years into four separate economic periods, determines the extraction for each, and then applies a moderate interest rate—about 5%—from the middle of each period to the present. This rate is lower than the market rate. After tallying everything up, she discovers that the overall drain is $44.6 trillion. She claims that this sum is modest since it does not account for the Raj-era debts incurred by India by the British.
These amounts are mouth-watering. However, it is impossible to determine the actual expenses of this drain. Nothing could have changed in the course of history if India could have followed Japan's lead and invested its own tax income and foreign exchange earnings in growth. India has a great opportunity to become a global economic superpower. We could have spared ourselves centuries of misery and poverty if we had tried.
British rule over India was short-lived. As Patnaik's research shows, it was actually India that helped shape Britain. Not only Britain, but the whole of today’s advanced capitalist world flourished on the drain from India and other colonies.

You know what pure hatred is, it is Modi who is pitting Indians against Indians based on religion and the victims are Indians who do not agree with him. For example, the poor Muslims are Indians- marginalized, they are not of Mughal heritage. No, in fact the few rich Muslims of Mughal heritage are worshipped by their Hindu peers for their light skin and Bollywood acting and music.
Modi is not harassing them, he is harassing those poor Muslims whose DNA are native Indians, because he and his movement believe they were once Hindus or low caste and they must remain that way.
Other victims include, Hindus who oppose him. Professors sent to jail, loss of job and careers, the tax agency suddenly raiding your home, confiscating wealth etc.
He has re-written books to remove history of Indentured Indians- yes for him, you and I are not seen as "Indians origin."
The oppression under Modi is real. Opposing Modi is actually pro India, and Modi does not represent the real India and its values.
Shame on you for not calling out Modi, you are disgracing India by associating his hate and philosophy with India, a land where diversity from the beginning of time embraced ancient people of all different beliefs and values. His lies and and attempt to remake history to suit the twisted philosophy of Hindutva is alien to India and the Hindu faith.

If they are Indians why have Pakistan and Bangladesh...Bangladesh separated from Pakistan..
Muhammad Ali Jinnah is considered the father of the "two-nation theory".
The "two-nation theory" was put forward in the Lahore session of the Muslim League in 1940.
Jinnah gave a speech in Lahore in which he talked of the impossibility of living as one nation in 1940.
The name Pakistan was first coined by Rahmat Ali.
Rahmat Ali is credited by Pakistanis for having coined the term "Pakistan" and envisioning a separate state for Muslims.
So why Muslims want to stay in India ?

India already had a partition because hindus and muslim cannot get along in india.
1/3 of india land was given to pakistan and bangladesh so why muslim from bangladesh wants to come back and live in hindustan.
india is for hindus. muslim were already given their own land of pakistand and bangladesh.
That diunce nehru allowed many muslim to remain in india after the partition.
That same dunce nehru make india lose half of kashmir and lose aksai chin and allowed china to take tibet.
That big jackass duncy nehru give up india UNSC seat to china.
Now because of that dunce nehru, india is having border problems with china and pakistan.
