Pierre reminding selectors of his worth

Left-arm orthodox spinner Khary Pierre hasn’t given up on a West Indies recall and is keen on addressing the selectors the only way he knows how — by taking wickets. Pierre played three ODIs an ten T20Is for the Windies in 2019 and 2020 but has since been overlooked by the regional selectors. He has been a regular in the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force bowling attack for the ongoing West Indies Championship red-ball tournament, where he has taken 19 wickets in five games, one of which was rained out with only one day of play possible.

“It is a goal of mine to play for West Indies but I am just taking it one step at a time,” Pierre said during the team’s training session at the National Cricket Centre on Tuesday.
“I am just looking to keep improving and keep building and my job is to take wickets, so that is how I will address the selectors,” he added.

Pierre has been working with fellow Queen’s Park Cricket Club team-mates Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein to get better.

So many of our players fall away by the wayside for years. Very few of them okay consistently throughout their careers

The problem is they are so many left spinners in the region how is he any different than any of them? spinners tend to dominate regional cricket and when they are picked to play international cricket they look ordinary

The x factor for me, is whether that person has guile & variation with good control or plain a mystery bowler.

In my lifetime the closest we've had to mystery has been Narine. Surprise surprise Chase has some guile and control enough to be noticed. Anybody disagrees?

Pierre is a steady bowler who definitely deserves to play FC for TT and probably as a reserve in white ball cricket as he is also a very good fielder. I dont think that he is necessarily better than Motie or Bishop so that he can be seriously considered for WI test cricket or even A team. If he were a right arm offie getting those figures, he would be definitely in A team contention
