Trini-born Canada resident beaten during home invasion

After being beaten and terrorised during a home invasion on Thursday night in Whiteland, a visiting 76-year-old Trinidad-born Canada resident says he is too scared to return to this country.

“Really and truly, if I don’t have to come I wouldn’t come again. It’s not easy. It’s like you are in a jail because even here you are afraid to walk, you are afraid to go anywhere, you have to have a group,” lamented Vishnu Ramnarine.

Last Friday, another Canadian visitor, Hilton Smith, 75, was found murdered at his brother’s home in Aripero, South Trinidad. He was bound and gagged and the house was ransacked.

Rubbing the area of his chest, which was still painful from the beating, Ramnarine said while he was aware of the high crime rate he had to come here on business. However, he admitted he was already contemplating making this trip here his last.

Municipal cop shoots street dweller in head, drops him at hospital

An investigation has been launched into the death of an unidentified man, said to be a street dweller, on March 22, after he was reportedly shot in the head by a municipal police officer and dropped off at a hospital.

The man later died while receiving treatment.
Guardian Media learned the officer, who is assigned to the Port-of-Spain Municipal Police, was only arrested by officers from the Homicide Bureau on Thursday – which was 13 days after the alleged incident occurred.
According to the police, officers were alerted by medical officials at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital on April 4 of the unclaimed corpse, which had been delivered to the facility by the police constable.

Investigators said they were told by the municipal police constable that he had been driving a marked police vehicle on March 22 near the Riverside Plaza in east Port-of-Spain, when a man allegedly threw a stone, causing the windscreen to be shattered. It was reported that the officer later shot the man in the head and then took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Visitors seem now to be the latest target of this criminal element. They think they can get easy access to foreign currency and other valuables. Even though many visitors are just everyday individuals, sometimes struggling just to visit their families. Not to mention also being elderly. They could be your parent or grand parent.

Shame on these criminals. But, again, they clearly feel no shame.

I am embarrassed to read this. The implications and impact in the US will be swift with mass deportations of T&T illegals.
So PNM criminals if you can read...Leave the blasted people alone when dey come fer a visit.

Routine news ,not uncommon ,unfortunate and indeed forlorn

In T&T these days only the lucky remain unscathed or alive and still around

Life and crime for all has become like a risky game of Russian roulette

Hard to fortell if tommorow one's situatton could change and their " number could play"

2

As the authorities "whine and dine", lesser mortals: lives and safety remain on the line

At every turn to ease their concience, they blame,, and find excuses for rising crime

Murder is the least of their worries,as are home invasiouns,.that is of no consequence

Business as usual , "who ded .or who get robbed ", singular or group , it makes no difference

3

Who are the people in charge of the security of citizens in our country presently?

How can they sleep peacefully at nights? History will surely document their legacy

Daily criminals and bandits roam the land scoping who their next unlucky victim will be

As the ""jacket and tie ,3 pieced or wigged mentality"" gallery ,.. , hope vanishes gradually
