According to the Fire Department, Niagara Falls can comfortably accommodate up to 100,000 visitors per day without any issues.
If more such arrivals occur, it could potentially result in disasters due to limited parking space, compromised vehicle movement, and overcrowding.
It managed to handle a significant number of visitors when an individual decided to walk across the falls on a rope at a height of approximately 300 feet.
That number of approx. 150,000 visitors resulted in significant traffic congestion and delays.
Safety officials devised a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of the anticipated crowd of over 500,000 during the eclipse thus the emergency declaration.
The Ontario government will now ensure that it can provide its resources in the event of an emergency.
This includes the availability of helicopters and other necessary resources.
