Canada warns citizens over high degree of violent crime in T&T

The government of Canada has issued a travel advisory informing potential visitors to T&T to exercise a high degree of caution due to violent crime. The website,https://travel.gc.ca Home: Travel.gc.ca, the Canada government’s official one-stop shop for comprehensive international travel information, stated on March 28, that violent crime, including armed robberies, assaults, and sexual assault, occurs frequently on the island of Trinidad, especially in the capital, Port-of-Spain.“Tourists have been targeted,” it said. The advisory said that since 2018, incidents of kidnapping for ransom have increased. “Cruise ship passengers should be very careful when walking around the docks in Port-of-Spain. Shootings, kidnappings, and other gang- and drug-related violence also occur. There is a risk of being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” it added. It also said petty crimes, such as pickpocketing, bag-snatching, and thefts from cars, occur.

The Canadian authorities stated that foreigners should remain highly vigilant, particularly in certain areas. It listed Laventille, Beetham Gardens, Sea Lots, Cocorite, Carenage, Morvant, Savannah Park, Fort George, La Brea (Pitch Lake), and Las Cuevas Beach.“If possible, avoid travel outside Port-of-Spain after dark, especially along the Beetham Highway.” The advisory also highlighted the issue of home invasions. It said home invasions are common and may turn violent.

The above are all PNM government strongholds , nothing has improved for such citizens since the days of Eric Williams over 6 decades ago. they live in squalor , poverty , lack amenities and employment.

PNM till I die , Great is the PNM.

Where are my critics ...silence is deafening.

T&T Comments :

If there is ONE thing that Trini's hate most, it's the TRUTH. It is treated like the 'plague'. When they hear it (truth), they quickly cover their ears.
Nothing is more embarrassing (shameful) than to hear the truth.
This Canadian government statement is a 'death knell' to the hopes of expanding "Tourism" in T&T.
Those who 'pull the levers of power', actually do not want tourism.
The 'system', as is, works quite well for them.
'Control freaks' have no patience for criticism.
'Visitors' are viewed as 'prying eyes', not to be trusted. Without putting up a banner or making 'public proclamation', T&T is a 'closed society'.
Paranoid about how the 'world' might view them.
No one in government can 'debunk' or defend ANYTHING contained in the Canadian report.

Why? Because it is all true. And we hate 'truth' with a passion.

Most people see this as a serious problem but in the entrepreneurial Sprit I see it as an opportunity. I going in the business of fashion with mad mad sales... buy one bulletproof jacket get another one at half price. I also have matching helmets and track shoes for the great escape. I also have all sizes to fit the old lady next door or the child who wants to play outside. And since money hard to come by except those in government, I have a lay away plan to suit your budget and if you bite a bullet or the whole clip no refunds no exchange.

Different rule

Canada I am publicly advocating for refugee status to your country for Indians who daily experience home invasions and traumatic violence. Your country will benefit tremendously.

The only thing I agree with Dr Keith Christopher Rowley on is that our population is the cause of criminality but not for the reasons Rowley says, but for the fact that we keep voting PNM. We need to do a Michael Jackson and Look at The Man In The Mirror straight in the eye and ask ourselves the one question, Why?
We have men in this country that have proved to us over and over that they are in the "business of politics" to enrich themselves and we are so dumb that we continue to vote these men into public office even as they enrich themselves at the expense of our very lives. Goats leading Sheep. That is how one person describes the PNM and the people of this country and he is totally correct. We are voting for demons dressed in clothes, men that do not care if our country is the number one killing zone on the planet can you believe that? What is it that encourages a single Trinidadian to place their finger at the voting booth for these men? We are in fact discussed in every Caribbean Country and described as the most stupid people in the region. Every other Caribbean Island says that we are a crazy people for continuing to even consider voting for the PNM Political Party. As one Grenadian told me a few years ago when I visited that island talking about the fact that we still consider the PNM a real political party his response was a diplomatic one, it Was " Allya need to get real. "

Claire I have grown to respect your endearing persistence.......
I am sorry; but its too complicated now...
We have reached the stage of obvious insanity........
Hence my silence........
The forest first burns, so it can be born again.. ............

Raven, by definition, silence is either consent or capitulation or even both. Both are mutually inclusive as well. If two people are engaged in a fistfight and you sat on sidleline pretending to be unconcerned and neutral, you've, indeed, sided with the victor. Similarly, if you didn't cast a ballot at a general election, you've effectively voted for the winner. Neutrality as well as abstention, as impacted by the referenced matter, are impossible. Whether it's realized or not, if you're not a part of the solution, then by definition, you must be part of the problem. Raven, my advise, I know you have something positive to offer, so get off the hammock. Thank you.
