He has never troubled the selectors by pretending that he wants to play for the West indies. From the time he walked away from the team, he has never turned back. Maybe he understood how being in and out of the team at his own convenience robs others from a proper chance, as well as not lend to stability in the team. He never feigned loyalty by returning every time a world cup approaches; he was consistent. Elvin Lewis must also be applauded as well, he has been deliberate in his unavailability. he cannot be faulted for hypocrisy. And, Shimron Hetmyer have consistently shown, both by actions and demeanour that he is just not interested. We should not pretend to be blind and keep calling on them.

You are not privy to Narine ordeal.

He only received support from his home club, QPCC, and his IPL team when he was called.
Under Bassarath's leadership, the T&TCB made mocking remarks about this player.
WIPA stood up for him and strongly criticized the T&TCB president.
Thier are rumors that BCCI was responsible for the initial allegation , they didn't want him competing against India
Since then, he has avoided all matters related to CWI and disassociated himself from any association with this organization.
So too is Lewis.

basarath didn't stand up for trini players in a meaningful way when the opportunity came. the ordeal out of the india tour was one such opportunity. West Indies teams were rubbish without rampaul, ramdin, DJ, Pollard etc. the subsequent results proved this. yet still when the side was purged by insular, small minded men who cannot see beyond the coconut trees surrounding their territories, he didn't stand up in an open way. Maybe e made his feelings known privately, but the then WICB needed to be embarassaed(although shameless people don't feel embarassed)

I also salute Narine. The man has made his decision, made it public and is sticking to it. He never said that his decision was dependent upon who was begging him to return or any other factors. A man who stands by his word is to be admired.

last time i really supported a WI team before the aussie series last year(i always thought shamar would make an impact, of course i could not predict how much but i was mighty impressed with him with that one cpl match, in much the same way i was impressed with dale steyn when i saw his first game for an Africa XI vs an Asian XI in 2004) was 2016 with the wt20 and the tri series that followed. before and in between that, we were assailed by these same undesirables who rely solely on the jingoism of the people in their home countries. when that india debacle happened, i remember viv was advising Bravo and co to wait until idiot met with them to air their grievances, and perform to the best of teir ability until that time happened. Great advice from a west indian legend to a WI captain and he even congratulated the side for winning the first odi despite the furor. What viv didn't understand was that the president, and the two boards which supported him until his waterloo at the kingston pegasus, were not rational people. honestly i think cameron and his cohorts really wanted to be plantation overseers in a role playing game, and tried to take that desire into the board room.

[b][i]Thier are rumors that BCCI was responsible for the initial allegation , they didn't want him competing against India

If I should go by your statement above, he was spitefully called, only because the BCCI did not want him competing against India. So they attempted to hurt his career. Yet, he avoided all matters related to CWI and pledged total allegiance to the ones who actually acted to end his career. So, if I should believe this, then Narine never had a chucking issue, it was BCCI hatchet work to keep him off India's back. So what was the necessity for all those remedial work? Maybe Basarath knew better. Based on the events that followed, and from your statement, it can be concluded that he was bought, or to put another way, he sold out.

But, I do not believe in conspiracies. As you said, rumour. I am just trying to make sense out of it; the pieces do not hold. Maybe there is a story somewhere, but that is not it.
