you are right...

so it is not a clearcut

so that might indeed invite questions about who and who

Isai Thorne for example?

With regards to Isai Thorne, he played against the emerging Ireland team and well, to put it bluntly, they looked like frightened deer stuck in the headlights...he was clearly a class above that level, with his pace and aggression proving way too much for the Irish.

Thorne has since in U19 Internationals against England, Scotland and Australia, taking a combined 8/136 in those three matches.

His performance in the recently concluded championship win for Guyana, had many of us taking note. Thorne took wickets consistently, with a best of 4/38 against Windwards and finished the season with 19 wickets at an average of 22 and a superb strike rate of just 36. An economy rate of 3.6 is also of note for the young quick.

Isai Thorne First Class Statistics:

8 matches, 31 wickets (avg 16) Strike Rate 28.2, Economy Rate 3.4

He is only 19 and far from experienced but as the saying goes, if you are good enough, you are old enough...

I think that the squad is pretty predictable and that Anderson, Wickham and Thorne have moved on from Academy level. I would have said that Joshua Bishop has also moved on from Academy level and am disapppointed that Junior Sinclair was not given a look in. I find the squad a little short in the batting department and would have hoped that a couple more of the recent U-19 players who hopefully will come into the Academy as the next cohort would have been included. On the other hand, I think that (with respect) we have seen enough of Teddy Bishop, Nyeem Young and Ackeem Auguste at this level.

Thorne's omission is strange.

Maybe he is on the tour to Hingland.
At times I just cannot understand the selection process.
However, if he is selected, who stays?

I am pleased to see these kind of tours in the schedule.
