Bassarath defends TTCB actions again
‘POLITICS OVER CRICKET’

Under increased scrutiny over his board’s handling of recent matters involving its members, Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) president Azim Bassarath is standing his ground.
He continues to refute claims, for instance, that the recent Special General Meeting called on April 17, was unconstitutional. He also cleared the air in terms of the rational for the TTCB’s handling of the recent financial revelations of alleged fraud and the subsequent actions to remove treasurer Kiswah Chaitoo via a motion of no confidence on February 28.

Two letters, one from the North Zone Cricket Council and the other from Central Sports president Richard Ramkissoon, were sent to the Board raising questions about the calling of a Special General Meeting for April 17, with the main item on the agenda being the confirmation of minutes of the meeting of February 28.Both letters also alluded the that the fact that the TTCB has not called a quarterly meeting so far in 2024.

“We request that the Board call an ordinary general meeting as is supposed to happen every quarter to confirm the minutes of the meeting,” the North Zone wrote.

The meeting referred to was the 2023 AGM.
