were talking about at the conference he heard from me years ago. I done talk.
Dem cyan sort out math and English in schools let alone cricket.

The superstructure will follow. That was the conference conclusion. Like every other institution in the region, the cricket superstructure did follow the neo-liberal model and now all that ‘s left is who can eat di most food will mek it and to hell wid di rest.

Neo-liberalism killed every notion of volunteerism in this region.

By the way my doctoral thesis title was Cricket as an element of the Superstructure. I told them the cricket superstructure would follow and here we are.

I wish I could laugh but it’s way too sad.

Wow, wisdom! Our Mom said we were gonna learn patois anyway so we had to speak English among each other at home (not perfect mind you but close e.g. we'd say ma for my).
One day at school I was dung inna di patois wid mi fren' dem when I looked up and saw one of my sisters (they're all quite older than me) Not knowing better I was so ashamed.
She sought me out on the way home and calmly reassured me 'Remember Mammy said 'at home'lollol

I had to learn Jamaican when I moved here.
I taught English as a foreign language in my English remedial classes. We had an absolute ball for 17 yeat
Rs and everyone of them can switch from one to the other with consummate ease. Every single one whether uptown, downtown or country passed English.

Where there is a will there is a way.
I have long believed that our societies set out to deprive people of a decent education.
Dem telling me about cricketers with no loyalty and they cyan keep a nurse, a doctor, a teacher, a scientist in di region. Spare me please. I’m exhausted.

And doctors and nursers education is tax payer subsidized, and they are celebrated when they leave our shores for greener pastures.

Look, our education system still teaches European supremacy and our media- our newspapers "columnists" still adopt that paradigm. Our region has failed to adopt own own paradigm.

The US State Dept and now I see the Chinese Foreign Ministry are giving "scholarship" to media folks and in return from USA or China they are expected to parrot these countries values or policies.

Ironically...my mind went all the way back to 2006- leading up to the 2007 WC...and you were quite vocal then.

So your Brethren aint wrong...I too recall your not so subtle mouthings

so I ask...

Will any fundamental change happen now?

They are all engaged in neo-liberalism and the superstructure reflects that.
I have no time, energy or patience for the latest pipe dreams.
