WI Women Need A Taylor-Mohammed Series

As athletes, WI women can compete with the best in the world. On cricket, WI have a way to go.

WI women need to play more cricket in order to get to a stage where WI can compete with the top teams.

There are several ways to get there:

1. Ideally, there should be a 2-day competition so that the women can learn to bat, and learn to bat long and build an innings.
2. The current 50-over competition could be expanded to two rounds

If finances do not allow any of the two options above to occur we can have a Taylor-Mohammed series at the end of of our current 50-over competition. Select the best players and let them play 2-day games. Start with a single game if that is all that CWI can afford.

This would also be a very good way to honour these women who have been our best performers in ODI cricket.

Our women have done remarkably well.
Our school boy males have the following competitions
Primary school U13 U15 U17 U 19 2ND division Intermediate....
what do the ladies have to expose young girls to the game?
Are there even ladies competitions in the Caribbean?

All good observations and questions. However, the intended focus of the thread is a little different, no?

I think it is not just playing more cricket but widening the talent pool. If we just have a few girls exposed to the game, then playing more cricket might have little effect.
However if all the Jamaican track girls were exposed to cricket just as they were exposed to track, Windies would be at a whole new level. Then we could talk about playing more games.

No disagreements from me, Baje, WI should try to recruit track athletes, footballers, hockey and tennis players...... The territorial boards should get local competitions going.

And, CWI should have our Taylor-Mohammed series. Honour the women, raise the profile of the sport.

We agree on everything else. I just want to include TMS.
