HEADLINE: Axed selectors set to contest dismissals 2019-04-19 12:04:20

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Legal counsel for the recently-sacked Cricket West Indies (CWI) selection panel, Tony Astaphan, has slammed comments by CWI president Ricky Skerritt regarding their removal and also plans to challenge the manner of their dismissal in court.

Chief selector Courtney Browne, along with Lockhart Sebastien and Eldine Baptiste, were all removed from their posts last week, as CWI announced it would revamp its entire selection process.

In announcing the changes at a media conference in Antigua, newly-elected CWI president Ricky Skerritt, said, “We have terminated the old embedded selection policy which secretly, but actively, victimised some players and banished them from selection consideration.”

Astaphan, however, took issue with the remarks.

“My clients are very troubled by their dismissal and the manner of their dismissal, particularly the statements made about the ‘old embedded selection policy which secretly but actively victimised players and banished them from selection consideration,” Astaphan told the Mason and Guess radio show here.

No surprise here, we have always viewed browne and his cohorts as inept.

This suit proves the decision to remove them was the correct one, just in case anyone had any doubt.

CMC Sports understands, however, that Sebastien has distanced himself from any planned legal action against CWI.

Looks like Travis Dowlin not involved in the law suit either.

Brung feels entitled.

Good for de skunt...his firing was long over due

It seems the WICB is the cricket board that generates the most lawsuits....

The new Pres is cleaning the swamp, Mr Serritt no turning back, Good riddance to Browne and company, now they know how abused and misused players felt while they were in office. Keep up the great job Mr Skerritt, WI cricket needs a way forward and not undermined by those who had no interest in real cricket development in the region. Only personal gains for themselves and friends important to them while in office. Here again even after been forced out of office they are demonstrating that undermining WI cricket for their own personal gains is more important. Still searching for that last big check from CWI. Cameron and his birds of a feather really flock together.
