DHAKA, Bangladesh (CMC) — An elated Head Coach Phil Simmons said Sunday the performance of the West Indies side in the two-Test series here had exceeded his expectations.

Stressing even though he was usually positive ahead of every series, Simmons said the fact an inexperienced side had trounced Bangladesh on home soil had been an achievement hard to anticipate.

“It's a joyous occasion. It's an occasion which we haven't been able to celebrate as a West Indies cricket team since 2012,” Simmons said in reference to the last time West Indies won two Tests away from home.

“It's just unbelievable. Words fail me right now but the joy that's inside me right now is unbelievable.”

He continued: “We're playing Bangladesh at home and to come and to win two Test matches back to back in Bangladesh to win the series in Bangladesh, it does [exceed my expectations].

It was a good moment for the WI team and fans, the results could have a positive effect on WI cricket going forward, as the players will be encouraged to do just as good in the immediate future.

Keep this team on track Mr Head Coach, they might have more JOY in store for WI fans in the future but add Holder and Chase to team, while adding also Brooks, Dorwich, and Hety as reserves to complete team.

Chase deserves to get dropped more than anyone. Since 2018 he has averaged 22 with the bat and 36 with the ball.

He needs to sit, reflect and score some runs to get back in the side. I don't understand why people want him back, it's like they haven't been watching him get out lbw stuck on the crease for the last 3 years without ever improving his technique.....

You have to admit that there was a time when he supported well the middle order to tail end of many innings. He is that type of batsman who is hard to write off, for you never know when he will score a century for his team, plus his bowling make him an additional asset to any team.

If they select him they are rewarding mediocrity, it's as simple as that. There is room for one middle order batsman who can bowl and that is Kyle Mayers.

Yes at the start of his career he was averaging in the high 30's and that was excellent by our standards. But that was more than 3 years ago.
