Former West Indies wicketkeeper, Jackie Hendricks, believes Cricket West Indies (CWI) selectors should consider looking at hard-hitting left-hander Evin Lewis as a Test team opener.

The batsman, who also has 1229 runs in 22 First-Class cricket matches, and a century scored while representing the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the regional four-day competition, has not played the format since 2017.

“I’ve always thought the selectors were a little short-sighted for not given him a go in the Test matches,” Hendricks told the Mason and Guest Radio program.

The selectors just don't give players a go just like that Jackie..you gotta prove something...Test cricket is different to 20/20 hit or miss.

Jackie should first convince Lewis about playing test cricket......then comes selectors and selection.....

Hemdricks should be encouraging Lewis to play some four-day games first before suggesting that the WI Selectors should select him.

PERHAPS YOU MEAN MORE FOUR DAY GAMES?

I do not understand your post. Lewis played 22 Four/day matches in nine years. He is mostly a short format player.

You don’t understand because you don’t want to understand.

You said he should play four day matches. I posted that you meant he should play more four day matches and you come back with fuckery.

Just accept your original statement was incorrect and move on.

Yes that's what I meant, he should play more four-day games, in the last 2 years I do not remember him playing more than one game.

Allyu do realise dat Lewis had a better first class average dan both Mayers and Bonner when dey were picked to tour and still has a better average dan Bonner both of whom are now being lauded as fixtures on the team?

Do they deserved to be on the team?

Mayers was a bowling all rounder playing for Windwards although Bajan, that communicates much. Cant compare him with an opener in ODI.

As the Guyanese would say, Walco yuh name calling smile

To be frank, I don’t give two wuk ups about Lewis and Test cricket. I know someone who used to be responsible for calling West Indies players to check on their availability prior to selection for the senior team. Sometimes that person was lucky if Lewis returned the phone call. And on some occasions if he answered the call by accident, Lewis would promise to call back and not do it. And we’re talking about selection for the ODI and T20 teams.
