There is consternation in some quarters with news emerging that Jamaica will not feature at all in the region's hosting of the 2024 International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Twenty20 (T20) World Cup.

On Tuesday, Johnny Grave, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) chief executive officer, said that, while seven nations from the Caribbean submitted hosting bids, Jamaica was not among them.

"Jamaica didn't bid to host matches," Grave said in response to a text message query.

The CWI chief executive did not name host countries nor cities, but told the Jamaica Observer that "The ICC are hoping to announce the venues this month."

When contacted, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) CEO Courtney Francis said the local body had done its part.

Chris Dehring, who was chief executive officer of the 2007 50-over Cricket World Cup staged in the Caribbean, rued the missed opportunity.

"It is majorly disappointing on several levels that Jamaica is not one of the venues for next year's T20 World Cup," he said.

I find it unbelievable that a cricket World Tournament is being staged in the Caribbean and
Jamaica the largest island with the most hotel room and supposedly two good world class cricket ground/stadia not hosting a single game. Unbelievable!!!!

The reason people get away with BULLCRAP is because reporters do not ask the correct questions.

The above two statements seek to say completely different things and only one of these two or maybe neither of these two people is being honest.

Actually, they do not. One statement is very direct and the other is a bit diplomatic. The statement says the JCA (not Jamaica) had done its part.

Why are you surprised? Jamaica is the largest of the islands, but it is the poorest. They can't afford to host matches. Sabina Park is going to waste and the structure in Trelawny, once known as Greenfield Stadium, is now a goat pen. I think India should demand back the lights that they gave them, now just rotting away at the half finished Sabina Park. Jamaica's serious cricketing days are over. Why do you think the refugee Tallawahs have no home?

Both statements can be true. The JCA cannot put in a bid without the blessing of the Government

Completely different things and also nothing just words. What does 'done its part' mean?
In this instance what does Graves' 'JAMAICA' mean, JCA, Ministry of Sports or one of its official agencies? Dem men being vague on purpose so fingers can point all around but don't get stuck no weh! Brother Rhatid JA just sent a 70 member team to the World Champs, it is not just athletes, sponsors, JAAA or whatever it is now called nor IAAF's tranche of funds to JAAA that got them there but govt contribution also. Indeed JAAA is partially funded by govt. They just sent teams to CAC and Youth level T&F WC. Even though they don't properly maintain stadium and Bina when they want to find funds they can and do.
