HEADLINE: Common sense before book sense - Pollard questions rules again

After 11 consecutive overs of spin, and 14 overall, Trinbago Knight Riders still found themselves behind the over-rate in their Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League match against the Jamaica Tallawahs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Saturday night.
As such, the home side were penalised with additional fielding restrictions in the final two overs when they bowled and while it did little to dampen the mood of the capacity crowd, it didn’t sit well with skipper Kieron Pollard.
Pollard would have already voiced his opinions on the new over-rate rules after receiving the first “red card” issued for a slow over-rate in their six-wicket victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park earlier in the tournament.
“For me, the disappointing part was bowling 14 overs of spin in a cricket match (and still be penalised for a slow over-rate). One thing I’ve learned from the old people saying in Trinidad and Tobago is that common sense was made before book sense, and the logic of this rule makes me wonder how we are actually going to go forward with it,” said Pollard.

That may be correct, but also isn't that an indictment on Polly seriously?
After 11 consecutive overs of spin, you still fall behind. This smacks of major time-wasting and may very well credit the reasoning behind the regulation.

BTW it seems Johnny B prefers to be off the field on the boundary lines than be on the field.
Isn't this the reason he had left to lead the Patriots ....he cant stand the Pouter

Exactly!
He needs to ask himself HOW he bowls 14 overs of spin so slowly

His antics are to blame. He should be a Bollywood actor. But has anyone noticed that his nasty so called gamesmanship is only reserved for when he plays in the Caribbean. He would not risk this crap in India.

If Holder did in fact criticize the rule then he in all probability did it once and moved on.
Unlike that miserable oaf PullFraud who indulges in making an exhibition of himself on and off the field.
It's also surprises no one that Pullfraud is the number one serial offender of this very rule which he so vehemently dislikes.

I am a fan of TKR, but Pollard's actions on the field occasionally embarrass me.
If we examine the circumstance...
Prior to the commencement of the tournament, modifications were made to the regulations, necessitating the players to have been duly notified of these alterations.
The League acknowledged that the duration of its games exceeded the desired length by around 30 minutes, and expressed the intention to establish a specific timeframe for completion.
Additionally, it was observed that penalties would be imposed on both the batting and bowling teams in the event of any violations of these rules.
The delay incident occurred within a game led by Pollard, resulting in the imposition of penalties.
Pollard expressed his opinions following the game and should potentially face financial penalties if the league had enforced disciplinary measures.
Why did he choose not to provide commentary when the aforementioned guidelines were announced?
Subsequently, Holder proceeded to provide his remarks. Only two players provided comments.
The persistence of the issue remains a subject of ongoing concern. Pollard and Holder, if both of you express dissatisfaction with the regulations dont play in the Tournament.
An additional pair of pacifiers has been requested.

Bruh, it is simply, just bowl your overs in the allotted time! If this was the IPL implementing those rules he would have said, F all. It is a good rule, it makes sure that captains and their teams play within the time! Support it, dont denigrate it!
