HEADLINE: JCA, former player slam Scorpions’ performance in Super50

CaribbeanCricket.com 2023-11-15 15:17:32

FOLLOWING the Jamaica Scorpions’ disappointing performance in the 2023 regional Super50 tournament which saw them finishing eighth in the eight-team tournament, Courtney Francis, chief executive officer of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), says a debriefing session will be held shortly to find out what went wrong in Trinidad and Tobago.

“From a management perspective, we are very disappointed, and the players likewise. We now have to do the debriefing to get better information to see what went wrong. I’ve so far received some of the reports and I’m awaiting the coach’s report,” he stated.

The Jamaica Scorpions, the defending champions, were led on the field by West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell and had the likes of experienced players such as Chadwick Walton, Nkrumah Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, Fabian Allen and Sheldon Cottrell in their ranks. For Francis, this team, which had a wealth of experience, ought not to have performed the way they did, and the performance, in a nutshell, was just not good enough.

What nonsense I reading
'ought not to have performed the way they did, and the performance, in a nutshell, was just not good enough.'

Powell can't play spin (games in T n T).
What has Blackwood ever one in List A games,
Bonner is a slow poke joker
Fabian Allen needs work (head seems to be elsewhere plus he obviously injured)
Cottrell out of form.
They performed as reasonmably expected.

They need to invest in youth..
King absence through injury hurt them.
Where was Oshane Thomas, their fastest bowler
Where was Jordan Johnson
I can go on..
But where is the younger Jamaicans
You invest in old farts, and expect to perform good/great.

Steuuuuppppsssss.

Pure nonsense with the Jamaica cricket this campaign and before.
Did not expect much from them and the selections did not give
much hope.
They gotta get things together or....concentrate on football and athletics smile

Bruh scorpions' performance only slightly worse than Barbados Pride. With all the big names playing at the highest level the Pride were awful. The tits notwithstanding the pelter were deserved winners. Tits were focused and played with an obvious plan.

No argument here bro.

Pride also picked bad, so they may be worse than Jamaica.

Some of the best Pride players were on other teams.

The likes of Warrican and Braffit need a pink slip.

Time for Jamaica, T&T and Barbados to start pensioning off the old guard.

BS, they left out Mansingh and Jordan? JA played as expected. Kuk could not do it because of too much pressure and expectation on the young man.

I cannot give my take on dat.
If the 48 is mainly youths, then good.
If it is the recycled dung heap...WHO CARES!!

Barbados main issue is selection.
Not the only issue, but the main one.
I anticipate repatriating to Bim within the next two year.
I am going to make noise (loud) about selection policies.
Social media, sports outlets, wherever and whenever I can.

My main mission will be to make lots of noise
and make the public make them powers-that-be accountable.

Where were Mansingh and Jordan? No investment in the youths? Then next year you select them without any experience and expect them to perform at the highest levels? Selectors are a bunch of jokers!

Like everything else in Jamaica, cricket has gone to the dogs. These guys don't really want to play for Jamaica, but they are afraid to say so. They were hoping not to be selected, but just went through the motion, just hoping for the competition to be over. They all are just hoping for some miracle call-up to play t20 abroad. But which team would really want these prideless, talentless, money-grabbing cowards?

Rebuild the team with McKenzie, Johnson and Mansingh as the spine.

Where was Lugg?

Pension off Walton and McCarthy.
