The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) is embarking on a new vision to become the premier cricket organization providing world class products and services for stakeholders. In this regard, the BCA is aiming to create a sustainable environment for the holistic development of Barbados’ cricket for the benefit and enjoyment of its stakeholders.
To assist in the fulfilment of this mission, the BCA has created the new position of Manager Finance and is seeking to recruit a motivated individual with proven knowledge and understanding of working in a dynamic environment.
The position will report to the CEO.

CHRIS Gayle’s sore back continues to be a bone of contention within the West Indies team leading up to their final preliminary match in the ICC Cricket World Cup. As the team donned their training gear for the first time in almost four days, Gayle was absent from practice due to soreness in his back, but the leading left-hander is still fighting fitness to play against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) come Sunday in a must win match for the regional side.
A determined West Indies had an intense session at Nelson Park yesterday, a stone’s throw away from McLean Park where they play the UAE on Sunday, but Gayle was at the team hotel where coach Stuart Williams told The Express that his back was still giving some problems, hence he was given some more time to rest.
“He is struggling, but we have back up in Johnson Charles. We would love Chris to play all the games so we have to manage him as best as possible,” pointed out Williams. Only last week Gayle explained he wasn’t ready to call time on his career even though he expressed great worry about the state of his back which may force his retirement from Test cricket.

Viv Richards has been crowned the greatest one-day cricketer ever by a jury of 50 eminent players, commentators and writers assembled by the Cricket Monthly. An astonishing 29 of 50 jurors picked Richards as their first choice, giving him a landslide victory over four other ODI legends: Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Akram, Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni.
The contest for second place was a close affair between Tendulkar and Akram. Tendulkar, owner of 18,426 runs and 49 centuries, eventually prevailed by a hair's breadth over Akram, the most exceptional left-arm bowler the game has seen. Rounding off the top five were Gilchrist at No. 4 and Dhoni at No. 5.

Head of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), Dave Cameron, is keeping his cards close to his chest as it relates to how they intend to approach India over a US$42 million damage claim resulting from last October's abandoned tour.
At Saturday's post-WICB annual general meeting press conference at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, Cameron refused to elaborate on what the next possible steps will be, pointing instead to a meeting he plans to have with Grenadian Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell next week.
Mitchell is also chairman of the CARICOM Prime Ministerial sub-committee on cricket.
