HEADLINE: Hooper calls for changes at top of WI cricket

CaribbeanCricket.com 2022-12-13 12:07:12

Expressing embarrassment at West Indies’ historic loss in the Test series against Australia and warning that the side’s decline in the longest format of the game could further worsen, former captain Carl Hooper has called for changes at the top.

Hooper, who captained West Indies in 22 Tests and played more than 100, said nothing else had worked to deliver results.

“Since 1993 we’ve struggled, and, certainly, judging from the results, there’s no policies or systems that have been implemented that is changing the downwards course we’re on,” he told ABC Sport.

POINT 2022-12-19 01:53:32

In this Forum I have continuously stated that there needs to be a COMPLETE RESTRUCTURING OF CRICKET IN THE REGION.

1. The Worst International Cricket Board must be in my opinion must be Completely removed from the governance of
Cricket in the Region . Now this aint the first time that I have stated this in this Forum .

What WE have in the governance of West Indies Cricket are
persons who relish aping those who founded the WICBC unless
or until this utter stupidity is stopped, WE will continue
to be at or near the bottom of International Cricket.

Until those in the governance of West Indies Cricket engage
in a complete and serious Introspective and Restructuring of the WICBC and its Satellites in the Region; WE will forever be akin to trying to spin a Top in Mud .

Change in my opinion, Must First Start from the TOP meaning
those in the governance of West Indies Cricket who relish
aping those who founded the WICBC many years ago .

Unless there is Harmony between those in the Governance of
West Indies Cricket, and the Regional Cricket Boards, who relish aping those who founded the WICBC, and Our
Players WE aint going anywhere . In essence WE will be
akin to running very fast but finding ourselves in the same
freaking Place.

What WE have is a classic case of " Monkey See Monkey Do"
In essence those currently in the WICB relish aping those
who founded the WICBC many years ago , until this asinine
is stopped WE will forever be at the bottom of International Cricket .

POINT 2022-12-19 02:12:18

What did the WICBC do when Our Players were prohibited from
Playing Cricket in England?

What did the WICBC do when Our Players were banned from playing in England; I don't recall that the WICBC started
a Regional Cricket League to keep our Players skills well
homed in all facets of the game.

One of the problems is the fact that many of those who
masquerade as Sports Journalists bluntly refuse to be critical of the Worst International Cricket Board in the
Commonwealth. Perhaps that is due to the fact that they get
free passes to Cricket Matches.

I am surprised that You are surprised; If WE want Cricket in
the Region to be fully competitive, The Worst International
Cricket Board in the Commonwealth must undergo serious
Structural Changes.

Apart from the various Cricket Boards in the Region, those
in the Region who masquerade as Sports Journalists are
seemingly afraid of those in the governance of West Indies Cricket.

It is this unholy alliance between the WICBC and most of
those who claim to be Sports Journalists who must be blamed
for the state of West Indies Cricket; in the International
Cricket Arena.

POINT 2022-12-19 02:41:45

I also firmly believe that those who claim to be Sports
Journalists must also bear some responsibility for their
refusal to be critical of the Worst International Cricket
Board in the Commonwealth; aka the WICBC.

Speak Mr Hooper!

Your contribution to WI may not yet be over.

The cricketing hierarchy loves to reference us in awe, but gladly accept our inaction towards being at our best once again.

Perhaps, just Perhaps He may be looking to see if he can be a member of the Worst International Cricket Board in the
Commonwealth. C'est La Vie!!!!!

My take is that there needs to be very serious discussions
regarding the Stewardship of the West Indies Cricket Board.
Sadly, most if not all of the Media and the Frauds who claim to be Sports Journalists are Allies of the WICBC.

Perhaps the Perks they get from the WICBC prevents them from being critical of Worst International Cricket Board in
the Commonwealth.

Unless, or until there are very serious changes in the
WICBC, West Indies Cricket will be akin to spinning a Top in Mud. In this Forum I have stated the fact that when Our
Players were the best in the World, their skills were augmented and honed by playing Cricket in England, when not
representing the Region.

Obviously when England realized that it was indeed honing
the skills of our Players in the International Arena, many of Our Players were prohibited from playing Cricket in England. The onus was on the WICBC to start a Regional Cricket League.

Sadly, those in the WICBC refused at that time to inaugurate a Regional Cricket League the WICBC failed the Region by not inaugurating a Regional Cricket League to ensure that Our Players skills would be sharply honed when
playing against International Teams.

I can only wonder if the WICB have performance and player targets for each local board before giving them funding.

A country like Guyana should have at least three players in the WI squad, if not why not...

In reply to Raskil If the best 11 WI players are Guyanese then those 11 players should be in the team. Hope you not saying there should be a quota system

You who quite rightly are critical of the sports journalists and media in the West Indies actually write this about Hooper? You are a strange gent!

When if ever did Hooper give you or anyone else the impression that he was remotely interested in being involved with what passes for the shambles that is West Indian cricket administration? Domiciled as he is in Australia, I can tell you he heard worse than what was on air during the recent test series, and his frank public utterance that the top of CWI needs to go is hardly an advocation for some post with a dying body!

Deryck and his cousin Colin Murray are of the same mind. They are all over the TT media with their take.

I’m not advocating a quota system. What I’m saying is that local boards should be given a strict directive to produce at least three international standard players. Match ready at all times.
Whether they make the final 11 doesn’t matter.

It should be incentivized.
