Windwards 3-0.
Leewards 2-1.

So much to smile about:
The 17 yr old batting prodigy Jewel Andrew 87/48 in only his 2nd FC innings.
Carty steady 52.
Allick 52*
Mikyle Louis leading the run aggregates.
Jerimiah Louis and Ryan John on top of bowling Aggregates.
Kavem Hodge and Sunil Ambris centuries.
Cornwall in the wickets 400 and counting.

That REVO Derby at the end of the season could be the biggest one in decades. I done planning to be there, will you?

Yes Chrissy they will take us back to the top along with some help from the rest of the West Indian territories. I like the looks of Mcallister from the Yard, just needs to become more consistent with his line.

I really like the composition and team spirit of our test 'A' team.
Think it is clear that a lot of the boys who played with this group have developed very well and their mentality is really strong.
We need to get more series for them and have Josh lead the team culture.

Congrats to them both

More match can aid the development of player
Secondly it my belief that the games should played on the international ground ....but on the positive side it foster the development of the local grounds. The players are hitting form n now their have break it do t know how good an idea this is..
A longer season can give exposure to.some players on the bench.

I suggestion..the WICB should pass rule that all player with a 15 member squard get a game n create a longer season.

Guyana too, are developing some fine young cricketers. Obviously, the world took notice of Shamar Joseph and his amazing performance during the recent series down under...Sinclair, Anderson and Isai Thorne are others at various stages of their development who could very well come through and become fine international players. Barbados batter Kevin Wickham looks a fine prospect, so the cupboards are far from bare.

Management, development...look after these guys...RRTWI

That's true. But collectively the combined islands have only produced 4 great cricketers. Ambi, viv, richardson and Andy Roberts. The windward islands have produced none. And those teams that roberts and co were part of, they were part of the reason the WI won, not the main reason either. The four prong, even in the 70s and 80s was dominated by bajan pacemen , with a few other bajans as the immediate replacements and two trinidadians in the wings(tony gray and ian bishop). Ambrose had the help of walsh and bishop as his partners, and Lara to make the runs, who at one point in the mid 90s, averaged over 60.

homie the leewards didn't take us to the top. As great as viv was, he had two openers, who weren't from the combined islands, who averaged over 40. of the four horsemen,. only one was from the leewards. And all these great combined islands players have come from one island. None of the other territories has produced a player who has had an extended international career in any format

Dude. You should be ashamed to know that Antigua has a population of 100k, TNT a population of 2 million including many in the diaspora. Antigua alone has produced Roberts, Richards, Richardson, Ambrose. TNT has produced one great player in Brian Charles Lara and don't say Bishop who had the potential to be great. 4 in 100k compared to 1 in 2 million. Same can be said for the other territories except Guyana and Barbados.

Secondly Leewards/Windwards played as Combined Islands that produced the likes of Roberts and Richards.

Thirdly the reason why we did not see more Combined Islands emerge is because they were not given the opportunities that players from the bigger territories received. Some of the older generation that Jim Allen was better than Viv but there was only room for one. Thanks to Sir Frank Worrell who realised the great potential from the islands and pushed for their in clusion. Winston davis, Lockhart sebastien, Victor Eddy, Cuffy, Livingstone Lawrence just to name a few that were snubbed.

Finally, we taking front. We have control of the Administration and you will be witnessing the emergence of many more from the smaller islands. However we need all hands on deck so it is important that all territories contribute to the emerging success of WI Cricket.

homie.....Trinidad has three gold medals at the olympics and we've qualified for a football world cup. And Brian Charlews lara is better than every antiguan player except viv.....he's equal with curtly in terms of impact. Cricket is not the only popular sport in TT, as emphasized by our success in cycling, T&F, swimming and football. Unlike in the leewards where cricket is virtually the only sport played at a high level.

Who said cricket was the only popular sport in Antigua and Barbuda? Winston Benjamin's son Rai Benjamin is a silver medalist at the olympics in the 400m Hurdles. Kim Collins was a World championship medal sprinter and the oldest man to make the olympic 100m finals when Bolt was running. Kirani James 400m gold olympic medalist for Grenada in the Windwards. St.Kitts and Nevis just made the Concacaf football gold cup for the first time and for years they have had young footballers play in professional leagues including there in TNT .

Again 1 in 2 million in over 50 years of cricket in the West Indies. Talk that!

He is a the son of Kennie Benjamin and represented Antigua before he represented the USA.

West Indies played their first test match in 1928 nearly a century ago and TNT a twin island nation with over 2 million people only produced one world class legendary cricketer while Antigua with 100k produced 4. Let that soak in and ferment for a while.

Have several seats please it is time for us to take the lead.

The same argument them Yardies used Jumpstart is trying to use. We have no time for Cricket as it is way behind football and athletics.

Imagine in St. Kitts Cricket like you said is 4th sport behind Football, Athletics and Basketball and we found two Louis Bros. I f these two make it to the WI team and CPL i expect a resurgence in cricket enthusiasm in St. Kitts. Cricket still seems to be # 1 in Nevis though where St. Kitts players compete in their league. They seem very organized over there in Nevis and I love that. I am wondering why we cannot get a R4D game in Grove Park as I am certain that there will be a sellout crowd.

rai represented the antigua because he thought he wouldn't be able to make an american quarter mile team, its by far their best event, they have never lost in the 4x400m relay thrice at the world champs, once to the soviets,, one to the UK and once to T&T on the track. i think they lost one or two gold medals retroactively due to one or two of their runners being caught doping. but he went to an american high school and an american college.

He competes for the USA in the 400m hurdles so I guess he still cannot make their 400m team but then again 400 m hurdles is already a challenge by itself so I don't think he can do both. BTW BVI's ( pop of 30k) Kyron Mcmaster just won our first medal a Silver the World Championships and is one of the favorites to medal at the Olympics in Paris, France.

BTW Leeward Island Cricket Board is made up of 8 member countries:

Anguilla
Antigua and Barbuda
British Virgin Islands
Monsterrat
Nevis
St. Kitts
St. Maarten
United States Virgin Islands

I believe Nevis, Montserrat, Anguilla and Antigua maybe the only 4 that have Cricket as their premier sport.

VoR, I have the greatest respect for you and your support for the Revo. I have been backing Windwards for the past few years myself because there is just something about that team that you feel it can be great. However, TT produced WI's first cricket superstar in Learie Constatine, its first double centurion in Clifford Roach, one half of those little pals of mine, Sonny Ramadhin, Mr dependable, Larry Gomes, Ian Bishop and Tony Gray who probably would have become immortals if their careers were not cut short. All before BC Lara came on stage to hold not one but two cricket batting records. I ent hear of no Antiguan holding a world cricket record yet!!big grin
