This is one youngster I have been following, he has been schooled at the Franklyn Stephenson Academy, and his parents were involved in his cricket for years.
Before leaving Bim, he had travelled to South Africa and England with the FS academy.
Congrats Youngman on your selection.

What ever.
In 2001, Gavron established an award for outstanding Barbados youth cricketers with winners presented with cash, a computer, cricket gear, a trophy and an attachment to a cricket club in an international playing country

financially, they would earn more with a very short career there in England than here

and they get to play 2nd rate county cricket and get paid for it...big grin

Archer's central contract for a year or 2 is more than he would get for a 10-15 year central contract with CWI

given the stellar record of barbadian cricketers in the last 44 years, i doubt we'll miss him(adrian griffith, patterson thompson, tino, kraigg, shai in red ball cricket, the can'tcatches, ryan hurley, RTN .....the list goes on

larry gomes was an excellent cricketer. in fact larry was better than every bajan batsman that debuted after dessie. In fact, in australia, larry gomes was better than both greenidge and haynes. Then you have the incomparable Prince, BCL, then you have Sonny Ramadhin, then you have Learie Constantine. I am going to include the following three because the vast majority of the success the west indies has derived in the last 14 years have come from this format: kieron pollard, sunil narine and the one and only Dwayne Bravo. sure historically we have not produced as many good cricketers as barbados since the game arrived in the west indies, but then barbados has not produced as many good swimmers, athletes, cyclists as TT. And im sure if the last 40 years were to be taken, ramdin would be preferred over can'tcatch Sr and Jr, brian lara will be preferred over hope and poor man's crabby and bishop is better than any bajan paceman who debuted after maco
