What about test greats who wouldn't perform or are 'not suited' for T20s because of....um limitations ?

Good point but what test greats? I have listed four test greats of the current Era: Kohli, Williamson, Root and Smith and all have excelled at T20IS. Now for the reverse any alleged great T20I batsmen have excelled in Tests to be considered great?

You have taken the words right out of my mouth,I am still going to say what you've said,If Pooran was from one ah de Dots he wouldn't say that.did VOR think about saying that when Gayle and especially the Saffie was tearing bowlers apart, don't remember his name now,VOR has been bigging up Mykyle Louis though, for making 50,if was 100...God knows.

In reply to granite One thing for sure I would have never called him GREAT. Pollard would never be considered a great batsman and the same will go for Pooran and any other batsman who excels in T20 cricket at the expense of Test cricket.

I might big up Louis for a good T20 knock but you would never hear me calling him great.

Gayle, Dhoni, Russell, Pollard and more have played five or more great t20 innings.

When? Where? What do you consider great? Club cricket you talking about or international cricket?

People does just throw the word great around for anything these days...

Great Batsmen are only in Test Cricket! If you cannot master Test cricket you are no great!

T20 is bear entertainment... nothing to add

Didn't Bishop say Pooran was the greatest T20 player in the world during the just concluded SA t20 series?

Formats....

Test cricket strategies focus on patience, building innings, and maintaining pressure, while T20 strategies prioritize aggression, quick scoring, and adaptability.
Each format requires teams to develop unique game plans tailored to the specific demands of that format.

Both formats showcase different skill sets.

Test players may excel in patience and technique, while T20 players often excel in aggression and innovation.
Ultimately, the "best" player can vary based on personal preference and the criteria used for evaluation.

Ow man.

Two different formats ...same critera cannot apply.

Sure there will be commonalities, but each format is geared towards a different pace of play

No. The man is being T20 specific. He is referred to as a batsman. There are benchmarks here as well for greatness. You old fart lol

Again you cannot be a great in a format that is skewed to your advantage. That alone disqualifies one from greatness.

Gayle is highly ranked as a test opening batsman among the greats. And a t20 great as well

Are you suggesting that Gayle is a great Batsman as he is ranked among the greats? Then if he is a great test batsman then clearly that is why he excelled in the T20 format.

You have defined greatness in test cricket. Greatness in t20 is totally different.

I see yuh.

convince me by telling me how you establish yourself as T20 Great?

but let me say this...

Poorans consistency and ability to unmekk ( dominate all bowlers) is my first example TOWARDS earning such.

A Bowler - I would like to say Narine has established himself... but the niggling * is always next to his name...

Am I making sense along your parameters?

I have said this numerous times.
There is a format in golf called the Long Drive, no one calls a Long Drive player, a Golfer.
T20 cricket is similar to the Sunday afternoon I saw as a boy the only difference is that it came at a time, when most of the Sunday players I saw as a boy, are all dead.

Batsmanship in T20 is replaced with Power-hitters.
Which player playing T20 cricket focuses during practice is not hitting the long ball?
