Bit too short with hardly any discernable turn and offers room, belts it insolently past long-on for a sizzling boundary

Dragged shorter just outside off, he says thank you very much and brings all his gung-ho-ness out, off the middle and out of the park way over cow corner, 90 meters monster hit Ball change please

That tennis one in white ...hmmmmmmm

15.2
6
Holder to Russell, SIX runs
Gets it absolutely right on this occasion. Clears front leg and shanks it with aplomb over midwicket for a six, off the middle and it was destined to land over the ropes

15.4
6
Holder to Russell, SIX runs
Seizes on the creamy half-volley wide of off and puts him into the stands over long-off, that's a duff that deserved the treatment, absolutely thumped it over long-off, turning out to be a big over

16.1
W
Theekshana to Pollard, OUT
Kieron Pollard c Maharaj b Theekshana 42 (27b 0x4 4x6) SR: 155.55
Over the wicket, floated up outside off, Maharaj takes a sprawling running catch at backward point, ball was swirling but he was adamant and took a tumbling catch, stellar effort, lost his balance while slicing it in the air and Pollard departs after a substantial contribution

Trinbago Knight Riders....16.1/20 ov) 135/5

David and Goliath now...

16.4
6
Theekshana to Russell, SIX runs
Tossed up a full-toss on off, Russell makes full use of the lousy one and clouts it over midwicket for a six; Theekshana has been inconsistent but it has been tough to keep the ball dry due to the wet outfield, margin of error becomes less
16.5
W
Theekshana to Russell, OUT
Andre Russell c Maharaj b Theekshana 31 (12b 1x4 4x6) SR: 258.33
Makes a superb comeback! Back of a length wide of off, reaching out and guiding it straight into the hands of the fielder at short third and Russell is livid with himself after that average shot. Admonishes himself while walking back to the hut

17.2
4
Simmonds to David, FOUR runs
Short and strays leg-side, swivels and makes sure to put the duff one away; guides it behind backward square and fetches much-needed boundary, didn't try to overhit, gets inside the line and plays it fine

Simmonds to Jordan, FOUR runs
Aims at a shortish length just outside off, takes a good look and plays a spellbinding back-foot pull to deep square boundary; leaning back and hitting it leisurely to the rope. I like it

W
Naveen-ul-Haq to David, OUT
Tim David c Alleyne b Naveen-ul-Haq 7 (7b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100
Over the wicket, shortish and wide of off, swings big and throws everything at it, but still can't clear the rope; another big hitter dismissed, smooth catch at deep backward point. Wickets continue to tumble
Trinbago Knight Riders...(18.1/20 ov) 154/7

18.6
6
Naveen-ul-Haq to Hinds, SIX runs
Whoa! That's a proper wallop! Gives some width and goes too full. He manufactures a six out of nowhere; plenty of oomph behind that one, up and over extra cover for a 69 meters six

ash : "2 really really great catches considering the amount of dew and the importance from Marahaj "

Afeef: "That's the fourth time in 3 months that Pollard has hit 3 consecutive sixes. He did it against Spencer Johnson in the MLC in July, then against Rashid in the Hundred in August when he smashed 5 in a row, then against Forde earlier in this tournament and now to Maharaj" Excellent work, thank you

They've huffed and puffed their way to 175/7, which looks like a respectable score. The slower deliveries have been quite effective. Expect a fierce tussle that might go down to the wire. Decent contributions from Carty, Pollard, and Russell have put them in a good position. The bowlers were a bit inconsistent but Maheesh Theekshana did a remarkable job, always coming back after being hit for boundaries and finishing his spell with three wickets. Holder was economical and Naveen was special as always with his bag of tricks, even though the wet ball didn't make things easy. I'm going to grab a quick cup of tea and take a short walk. I'll be back soon and look forward to your delightful company!
