ST. JOHN’S, Antigua - Cricket West Indies (CWI) for the first time has awarded multi-year contracts for several of its top Men’s and Women’s players for the next two years.
This historic achievement comes on the back of a new four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in January 2024 between CWI and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA).
Fifteen (15) Senior Men’s players have been contracted, with six (6) of those players being offered multi-year contracts based on their performances during the 2023-2024 Evaluation Period. Of the fifteen (15) Senior Women’s players contracted, three (3) were awarded multi-year contracts.

Seeing Hope name as one of the multi year contract recipients I'm hoping this means he'll be looked at for the Test teams.

what are these contracts worth?
not sure Shai is giving up any franchise cricket for an occasional test here and there

Don't know what they are worth. But they wouldn't offer him a multi year contract unless there was some kind of guarantee from him.
Plus most the guys like Hetty, Roman etc makes more money than Hope at this point. So I'm thinking there is something there

Maybe it's to keep him in ODIs as well
who knows

Actually they need to keep Shai around for WI white ball cricket engagements. Don't want him becoming a year round franchise player and not available to WI, hence a multi year contract.

Ain't too sure about that. Look at the other guys who are there as multi year contracted players, the two Joseph's and Motie
All of them play the 3 formats. Then you look at Hope and forgot King is two ppl here we have spoken about getting into the Test squad. It's not like we playing 20 test games a year so to be off for a series are two.
Plus we can't have all we players playing every lickit league all over

yea that is more like it
but what they offer is probably what he might get at IPL alone so that doesn't add up either

Brilliant!! I have been advocating this multi year contract for several years.... It's great decision by Shallow administration....Big step toward resurrection of cricket in Caribbean.. especially test cricket....
The list is also very good..
4 bowlers all class....Batters good, will surely add value to red ball cricket...
Roach , as mentor is also a far reaching decision...
Only disappointment..
Pooran & Hety not in CWI fold....
Hopefully, in future they can be added..
Great going Shallow adminstration!!!!!!

i like how they are handling Roach - similar to what England did with Jimmy
Pooran and Hetty were probably offered, not sure
it is a good move

Do agree with Roach. He is needed to guide a bowler or two forward and being so close in the mox is indeed helpful. We have always asked about mentorship for the younger players and someone seems to be listening.
I'm sure Hetty and Pooran were offered. I mean why not worst case scenario is that they say no. Which thru probably different. But more often than not in the case of Pooran he makes himself available for our white ball tours.
Hetty, well this is the best I've sen jim play in years. Guyana have him batting a good position hea getting more time st the crease and able to show his talent. These 3 upcoming tours (SL, EN, BN) between now and year end will give a glimpse into the future if we doing things right or doing insanity. I will go with the former and hope that's the case.

Yep just like that. plenty cricket.
This then should give a lot of opportunities to guys to grab theirs.
And also for the coaching staff to take a good look at the players.
I'm not sure but don't think there's any lickit cricket going on till the SA20 which is in Early January I think.
But wait we 50 over tourney ain't pose to start soon?

Yea the 50 should start this month
lots of opportunities to make a bread and lots of work for the all-format guys too
all T20s the major ones are till 2025 - i think ILT20 and SA20 will clash at least in parts
but there is Big Bash year end so we forgot

not really
i have been consistent
players are free to look after themselves as much as they can (separate and aside from my views on the best form of cricket)
what i had and have issues with is selectivity and the excuses - meaning you can go and trade your craft but do not turn around and make it look like you conveniently care about wi cricket and some evil people are doing all they can to keep you out...
so there is no consistency in my position

You mean all the "I still have a strong desire to play for West Indies" posse when a World Cup or Indian tour is around the corner?

Look, Cricket is evolving in a manner similar to football (soccer for the misfits). Elite players increasingly prioritize T20 leagues over traditional formats, just like top footballers hesitate to play for country unless it’s a major tourney. And its for the good of all involved.
That’s the trajectory, it ent going to change, no matter how much those stuck in a time warp and the wheelchair bound retirees bitch and moan.

Rutherford is not on the list, he has been one of the most consistent batters in the short format games. Surprising

“We”….meaning CWI…..has no control over that.
They used to have control. Now the control is wielded by the players.
For all the injustices done to players from every territory over the years by WICB/WICBC/CWI…..the shoe is firmly on the other foot.
That’s what you get when you have options and a skill set that’s in demand.
And fans have the nerve to chat shit about player loyalty.
Where was/is that “loyalty” to Veerasammy Permaul, Dwayne Bravo (test cricket), Irving Shillingford, Jermaine Blackwood, and countless others?
People really have short and convenient memories yes.
