I disagree else Roston would have not bowled 4 overs.

He is a batting allrounder...part time spinner....more value for the cappo...go figure

Lol... the skipper still searching for a spinna.

Motie rankings don't mean anything to the specialist skippa and stickman... dem fellas seh WI still looking for a quality spinner.

Some weird tactics by SL tho... I would have opened the bowling with a left arm spinner just to get King wicket... de dude can't bat left arm spin at all.

Rovman needs to realise that Motie is the premier spinner in the WI at present. your best bowler should always bowl his full allotment instead of being treated like a 6th bowler while Aljo as usual is going for over 10 an over

The truth of the matter is that Powell is a very poor captain. Full stop. End of story. Maybe he can learn but there are no signs of this happening.

After their openers, Sri Lanka had four lefties from no. 2 to 6. One of those lefties, Kamindu Mendis, had bashed Motie for 14 runs in Motie's second over. I believe Motie only bowled 2 overs because of this thing about match ups. The thinking appears to be that left arm spinners are food for left hand batters and so captains these days tend to keep left arm spinners away from left hand batters. It's funny because Powell used Maharaj in the CPL to bowl to Pooran and Hetmyer who are known to feast on left arm spinners. Maharaj ended up dismissing both during the CPL. So this idea about match ups and not bowling left arm spin to left hand batters cannot always be the thought process and there is evidence that it has not always been the thought process of Powell as a captain. So I would also have to question whether it is that Powell has more faith in Maharaj than he does in Motie. That would not be good faith placed by the captain in his premier spinner. But has got Powell the captain, we cannot say he is a bad captain as he has been winning us more matches as a captain than we tend to lose these days in the T20 arena.

I don't like the idea of making your most destructive batsman a captain.

So, aren't you guys attributing the win to Head Coach $ammy (while blaming Captain Rovman for the selective usage of premier spinner Motie)?

Even in victory ya'll still find discontent.

We need to get rid of this West Indies team! Each country should go they separate way so Motie can bowl all 20overs for Guyana

Clearly, that is the only way some of ya'll will be happy.

I don't know why we keep holding onto this West Indian idea when everyone is for themselves... Sad!

This criticism is a little harsh on this occasion, I think. Posters are just musing on why Motie wasnt bowled out as they are entitled to do. Rovman gets the most bligh on this message board and no one was really giving him real licks for his decision making on the field here.

Specialist cappo at franchise level, specialist cappo at international level. The guy is a dunce in every department of cricket.
He is the worst player in the 11.

The Motie situation. The guy hit him for 2 boundaries. He could’ve gone either way for him.

If you are playing match up bowl the Motie when the lefty is new at the wicket

Lol I’m pleasantly surprised WI was actually able to chase 180 against Sri Lanka considering that only 2-3 batters out of the top 6 can actually bat spin!!!

Not as surprised as the commentators.

It appeared they thought the series would be a walk over in favor of Sri Lanka.

I hope the WI can win every game!

My post was made after the SL innings....not after we won the match....but my query is valid regardless....WI was lucky the openers won the match for us

Score after 10 overs ....SL 83-3
Gudakesh Motie
2-0-16-1

SL finished at 179-7 after 20.....so SL added almost 100 runs in 10 overs....but the cappo didn t see it fit to bowl his spinner....who got a wicket wid de 3rd ball he bowled

And you spout the following....
We need to get rid of this West Indies team! Each country should go they separate way so Motie can bowl all 20overs for Guyana

You have shown your true colours...nuff said

My true colour is one that wants to see the WI win! I'm not caught up in who's bowling the most or who isn't... Clearly, Powell had a strategy he attempted to used, whether it went as planned or not, only the team knows.

Motie just went for 14 in his last over! Everybody was getting licks!

Maybe Powell had a team strategy, could have been something Powell saw on video against the batmen at the crease, maybe it was something Powell picked up on the field... who knows.

Like someone said, 'lots of cricket left to play'. I hope Motie takes 10 wickets in 2 overs in the next game, if it makes you happy.

WI was lucky the openers won the match for us

A few questions:

1. What if the middle order had won the match for us?
2. What if the tail-enders (batting of course) had won the match for us?
3. What if a bowler not named Motie had won the match for us?
4. What if outstanding fielding had won the match for us?

You see, I am trying to determine from your post where luck is the determinant in our victory.
