Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Caribbean CAGE have signed a historic long-term strategic alliance and contract to generate significant recurring revenue for cricket and cricket development in the Caribbean.

Was very excited until I learned the sponsorship is from a betting and gambling outfit. How can we be proud of this. It is a foreign entity as well.

Many unanswered questions including:

1. Will advertisements of all type and PR that glorify and thus encourage our youths to gamble now be mainstream during WI matches?
2. Will the players clothes now have gambling symbols and what if a player doesn't want to be associated with gambling?
3. How long is the agreement for?
4. Why did CWI pursue a sin industry to partner with a game that is so greatly loved and cherished by every greed, culture and religion in our region?

Did CWI solicit feedback from a wide cross section of society about this sin industry partner and consider the long term consequences of gambling to the health of our societies?

I see this in English football - many teams have Betting Company logos on their shirts but then players get banned when caught betting
