The selectors are going to have to do some juggling, provided that all of the bowlers are fit for the opening test against Australia. Below, two short lists of bowlers who at this stage, would be well in the reckoning for places in the team.
Quicks:
Jayden Seales
Shamar Joseph
Kemar Roach
Alzarri Joseph
Spinners:
Jomel Warrican
Gudakesh Motie
Six into the usual four just does not go. Two spinners in a home test / series? Perhaps the inclusion of a Greaves or Holder could allow for two front line fast bowlers and a pair of spinners but we will have to wait and see how fitness, the regional season, form and pitches all pan out.
Going forward, it is a nice problem to have for the selectors. Maybe they would consider five bowlers in a playing XI. Unless the batting dramatically improves, I see almost no reason to favor an extra batsman when the bowlers are the guys making recent runs.
