This is mind boggling stuff… but I am perplexed why Trump and cohorts are trying to fire 70 plus percent of U.S. Federal Government employees?

These actions has the potential to destabilize the economy and send it into a recession.

Trump administration directs OPM career leaders to prepare for 70% cut to staffing, programs…

Combine these actions with his threat of “Tariffs”, can it send the world’s economy into further tailspin and potential recession?

Would love to hear how folks here feel about this.

They need money to fund tax cuts for Billionates plus he needs to get rid of Public servants that will shed a light on the raiding of the Treasury that is about to take place. They also need to get rid of regulations and oversight that will open up the floodgates for billionaires to become even richer. And Trump wants to be the sole controller of the spigot so that he can decide who gets to play. Oh! Not to mention those lucrative contracts that billionaires lining up and ditching every modicum of decency to get need funds.

Any tax break only benefits the super wealthy and is paid for by the non wealthy. He is love for tariffs is not to benefit Americans but to pay for the tax breaks to be doled out.

But why target the employees at Federal Agencies?

Btw - 70% of Federal employees are White Americans.

I have friends who are traumatized with what is going on by the Trump/Musk forced resignation effort and it is sad to see how the common man can be fcuked over with little recourse.

I am hoping to generate some group thinking from this thread to shed light on what is happening and get some ideas from both sides of the political spectrum on what can be done (if anything) for these unfortunate people.

At this time, the DNC seems impotent and incapable of dealing with all the bullshyte flooding the zone from Trump 2.0 and Project 2025.

Birdie - some of these people are entry or staff level who have given their entire lives to public service. They have no way of impacting what needs to be done for Trump 2.0. I can understand cleaning house of the senior level but not at staff level.

Certainly seems like there is more to it than the eye sees in the present.

I was speaking to a lady on Friday who dedicated the last 15 years of her professional life to making people of all colours, faiths, orientations and neuro-abilities feel safe in the workplace.

Overnight that has all been silenced. She is devastated.

Exactly the sentiments I am seeing from the people I know.

These people are so panicked, scared and fearful. It is for this reason I came here and open this thread.

Today it is these people feeling the heat, but it might be our turn in the firing line in the not too distant future.

Project 2025 has some scary shyte in it for the not so privileged class.

Most of us, if not all of us falls in the not so privileged category.

My friend was called into a senior leadership meeting and told webpages must come off the company intranet. Certain communities of practice needed to be stopped. Certain external collaborations had to cease immediately.

Mind you, this is an American company in the UK, and where DEI et al are protected characteristics enshrined in law.
