It was an ok Gibson Relays. On the high school side Calabar and JC seem set to leap-frog defending champion KC, meanwhile, on the distaff side Edwin Allen should retain their title and Holmwood looks good to challenge Hydel for 2nd place. Vere is rebuilding and St. Jago has fallen off.

Outstanding 39.6 by Calabar's 4x100 - they should win this event at Champs and Penn Relays.
Impressive 3:10.2 by KC's 4x400 - this without (45.9) man Rose. They will need him and the returning "Turbo" to have a chance against Quincy Wilson and Bullis high school at the Penn Relays.
Ho-hum 4x800 on the men's side. They wont be in the frame at the Penn Relays.

Hydel, Holmwood and Edwin Allen will battle at Champs and at Penn Relays in the 4x100 where Bullis will join them. The same obtains in the 4x400 where Bullis to me holds a slight edge.

If Franno allows him (LOL) he will run and win the 100m, quite possibly the 200m as well. What you are seeing now are a few athletes being fully trained at clubs (Card - Wolmers - MVP) and (Rose/"Turbo" - KC - Racers).

I am ambivalent about this.
Academically - are they physically attending classes? Does it send the wrong message to teammates/schoolmates? Is the club running the school?
Athletically - the kids, who are clearly being prepared for professional track careers are in the place they will eventually end up so they can start the process early. Could Wolmers not have benefitted from Card on a few of their relay teams? Rose not being in the KC track set-up may have saved him from competing in extra races.

Well if him in school he should run, as a Wolmerian I would like to see him go for the record in both sprints, I don’t see him losing either. The 100m was his weakest due to his slow start but what I saw from his 60M race it look like him prime. I suspect he is being ready for trials so may not be in peak form yet, but he should easily beat any school boy over the sprints.

Hold your horses there Joe.

I would expect a tighter fight for the Purples, but no yielding expected. Gibson is just a relay event.

Lots of spoilers on the boys side which means a close champs, quality for the top three will be critical, field events may be the differentiator

Royalty - I do know Gibson is primarily a relay event, however, what I see in the relays, assuming no mishaps among the top 3 is that CHS and JC are placing very high (augurs well for their 100/22/400/110mH) KC in C1 (Wade) and C3 (Genus) is not showing top quality. Rose is questionable and his relay contributions will be negligible, furthermore, I do not see him doubling, so where will the points come from to shore up a weak C3? A dominant St Jago effort in that class can redound to KC's benefit. C2 is dependent on the health of Reuhudl who surely cannot double now so where will the points come from here? JC is strong in field events and good on the track and CHS will score heavily across all classes on the track.

It will be a close one but today I am saying JC - CHS - KC. Come tomorrow, I just might sing a different tune, such is the closeness of this year's edition.

Not disagreeing with you totally with regards to the championship. But that's where we will rise above the Lions and the boys in blue. The championship is really shaping up, as a nailbiter. Points will be spread across the board which bodes well for KC. I tend to fear JC more so than CHS. Jago and the Aggies will also steal points. Toss up you say, but KC will prevail.

Corporate Area Champs will show us (1) who has depth to survive five days of Champs (2) who has less crucial injury issues to deal with - KC (Rose/Reuhudl) unfortunately, as of today, leads in this category).

Who would you say is more crucial to their winning.?

Bramwell for CHS

Rose for KC.

CAC is a good gauge as to who bodes well to win champs, but then again, peeps don't show their hand ..completely.

Rose without question. You are talking about a 400m champion and 200m medalist. KC cannot replace those expected points. "Turbo" if healthy can win the 400m but want about the 200m?

Bramwell, if we look beyond the hype was not going to be top 3 in the 400m (his best event) and his 4x400 contribution would not prevent KC from winning this event.

Just saw Bertland interview where he mentioned Rose as a standout for the 400.

I also saw where you mentioned he was training MVP) correct me if I am wrong. Isn't Card also training with same?? He will be tough to beat. Super talent.

Bramwell, for all the hype, is not well.

No Sir! I said Rose (along with "Turbo" - who I think is a top class talent) is training with Mills. Bramwell is good but not at the KC pair's level. KC's 4x4 can run close to the Chris Taylor led CHS venerable 3:03.

Again, "Turbo" is the best of the 400m schoolboys, followed by Rose and the William Knibb kid.

Any insight on how the resurfacing of the track is going? I know there were reports that it didn’t start on time and there was some discussion of champs being delayed. Not sure why they start the resurfacing so close to champs.

The work has started and baring adverse weather condition, it should be ready. My only concern is the Cavaliers/Miami FC encounter scheduled for the stadium next week. I could see that being transferred to Sabina Park.

Be prepared for a green track with yellow exchange zones and black vertical jump aprons.

Wow thanks for the warning. I was comfortable with the blue track, in honor of athletic powerhouse, Knox.

Glad that the track should be completed in time

The contrast with that colour scheme will be something to behold.

The cycle track positioned against it will be tough to stomach.
