President Irfaan Ali has been selected to replace Dr. Keith Rowley as the new chairman of the CARICOM sub-committee on cricket.
The announcement was made by outgoing chairman Dr. Rowley on Friday during the final day of the 48th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Barbados.
Dr. Rowley revealed it would be his final CARICOM meeting and said Dr. Ali had been selected as the new chairman.
“…This is the end of my tenure as Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and my last meeting at CARICOM.
“Today I handed over to the plenary selected, or agreed to select, my colleague…my colleague from Guyana, who is an eminent cricketer, as you know, President Dr. Irfaan Ali to now take the chairmanship of the sub-committee on cricket,” Dr. Rowley said.

I see Jamaica refining oil for TT now costing $90 million.I still don't understand why TT couldn't afford to do some improvement work on the refinery instead ofr closing it down and selling it.Back in the 60s it was the third biggest Refinery in the world.TT used to rfine oil for so many countries,I recall seeing Ships bringing oil to refine, this was at Kings Wharf in SanFernando,Isuppose it was taken to the Rfinery in Marabella.Sad to see how anyone can want to get rid of such history.I think there is still plenty life in the TT oil and Gas industry .At the moment there are Tenders for 26 new blocks off the east coast of Trinidad for gas and oil,Trinidad is at present the 17th largest producer of Natural Gas.

Rowley and his PNM had vowed to break the OWTU and that was de main reason they shut down de oil refinery...... they have succeeded in breaking OWTU...but look at the cost to de country
Same for Caroni 1975 Ltd... PNM wanted to break Basdeo Panday.
Even tho both indusries were being mismanaged [by PNM appointees] and lost money....Both oil and sugar industries employed 1000s of workers [ 10s of 1000s downstream] and both brought in valuable foreign exchange.... there has been a shortage of forex in recent years ....de average trini gets only a few 100 US dollars to leave on vacation.... today all de scarce forex go to the ONE percenter businesses

Narps is not getting his pension in US dollars from Rowley for working at Caroni.
