Remember that after Brexit UK was trying their hardest to get something going with the US in terms of trade as Brexit left them out in the cold. So this might be larger in scope than the current Tariffs. I guess we will see but it could also mean that UK Prime Minister is only letting orange idiot know that he has his Trump Crypto receipt so he can shut up now.

The other thing to note about all this Tariff talk, it is also a diversion from the diversion, as last week and this week the house has been trying to pass a CR budget with 3-4 trillion of tax cuts for the billionaires and to lift the debt ceiling for the length of the Trump administration and almost a trillion in cuts to social security, Medicaid etc. While Republicans lying to their constituents about not touching social security while messing with Social Security. So guess what's not being talked about in the media....
If you notice these tariffs are being constantly postponed, for a reason....while the GOP is doing their dirty work in the back ground, lying to their constituents- he wants to mask any GOP announcement on the budget with these Tariffs conversation. My guess is that the announcement of a deal with the UK or other deals will coincide with the passing of that CR in attempt to shift the conversation away from the CR.

And in a sense they are linked, as if the US continues to create distrust and uncertainty with its partners/allies there is no way they will be able to raise enough cash/sell enough bonds to fund those tax cuts.. then all hell will break loose?

It would take a lot more than one month to negotiate a trade deal, unless talks started during the Biden administration. But whatever UK ass kissing deal is announced will likely be smoke and mirrors to be followed with details at a later date.

It takes an average of 18 months to complete a trade agreement. The USMC took that long.

I think that is the point I was trying to make but completely messed it up that whatever they might be announcing with the British might have been something that was in the works a long time before given that since Brexit they been looking for some kind of favored trade status. But as you said, its more likely to be smoke and mirrors. And it would be interesting that the British would be the first out the gate cuz if you remember the Prime Minister pushed back real hard when Trump and Vance tried to hustle Zelensky at the Whitehouse.
