The key word that you described Campbell was astute which means that he has the ability to understand situations clearly, have a high level of intelligence that allowed him to think on his feet, and to make sound decisions under pressure.
Of the 7 captains who engaged Campbell during the 7 series of cricket you did not zeroed in on any of them to form an opinion of their captaincy, only Campell's.
I can opine on your postings and interpret as I see, likewise, you have the right to express and defend your position even in a rum shop setup.
Lastly, I have only watched a limited amount of cricket during this season and cannot comment on any captain performance in becoming the new captain.
If I had to pick, I would go with Imlach or DaSilva since they had good results in the regionals as leaders of their respective teams. I agree with you that whosever becomes captain, we are in big trouble when the fearless Aussies arrive.
