Even at #3 against this attack was hard for a debutant. They could have send Greaves to open the batting, he has done it in white ball

All the circumstances was against young Andy but gosh I was so surprised to see his batting. Just like Hope on debut his bat came down angled and a mile from his pad. He didn't allow the one that got him to come to him but reached (albeit) late . Since he's shown one good skill i.e. bat long and pile on runs here's hoping he can develop technique.

Unfair - youth mashed up the domestic season- is not an opener and came in early because the openers are being checked out for injuries.

It took Rutherford about three years to fully come to grip with international cricket. So sometimes a shaky debut and start just means you have work to do

Who in the West Indies is ready?

This is rubbish.

About Kevlon Anderson: Maybe he was just nervous on his debut—opening for the first time against a top-quality bowling attack, at night. But if he’s such a bad batsman, how did he score three centuries, three fifties, and end up with the second-highest average in the last regional first-class tournament? What does that say about the other players who did worse or didn’t even play? I guess they’re the 'perfect' choices for this level instead.

You are right, he is not ready to open the innings with a pink ball under lights against two of the best pacers around ....

He’ll be fine- a confluence of unfortunate circumstances and you never know maybe the youth in his confidence put his hand up

All conditions favoured the bowling and just unlucky. He had too much to think about in that situation. I’m sure his bat will be straighter next time. I’m sure he will be more watchful next time. The legs will move better.

Stop making excuses.

Many batsmen debuted and batted out of position.
The same Hope debuted and batted as an opener, out of position.
Adrian Griffith batted out of position.
Ganga batted out of position.

Anderson looked very bad last night.
His feet were moving towards the middle stump,
bat coming down from slips/gully,
played every ball with big gap between bat and pad
feeling for the ball, instead of allowing the ball to come to him.
Not staying down, but instead coming up early.
I am just calling out what I saw last night.
Very very very poos technique.
Maybe it was nerves.

He did not demonstrate the acumen of a test batsman.
3 centuries in our redball competition means nothing.
Dasilva and Mohammed can attest to that.
Devon Smith and Junior Murray can attest to that.
Vishaul Singh can attest to that.

From what I saw last night, Anderson not ready.
Maybe with batting coaching, A Team games, he will be.

At this point, I am thinking that the drop of Athanaze was premature.

At this point, I am thinking that the drop of Athanaze was well deserved.

He has quality, however, the Athanaze we saw in the last Test series but more so the domestic series, needs to step aside and seriously assess his approach to batting.

I thought it before the selection yesterday.
To bring in Anderson instead of sticking with Carty was stupid.
To debut a batsman in pink ball against Ozzie is stupid.

Anderson got a raw deal and look at sea in the field and at crease.

Scammy erred here.

Agreed that Carty should have been given the series. It was also madness to debut Anderson in the last game of a 3-match series when Carty wasn't hurt. Give Carty the full series to assess him properly.

The problem with Sammy’s Windies starts and ends with Hope being the wicket keeper.
Take away the gloves from Hope and Windies will do better!

There are good bowlers and men who run up and release the ball towards the bowlers. The regional first-class tournament is filled with the latter. Against dibbly-dobbly bowling you can score 3 centuries, 3 fifites and end up with the second-highest average in our regional first-class tournament. Against good bowlers you may luck your into a century ala sammy.
