Carrying the extra batsman mightve paid off as both Sundar and Jadega pulled them out of trouble a couple times, but a bowler like Kuldeep would've been a huge asset.

Team India missed it

A 2-2 series draw would've been a fair result. Pity they "dropped the ball too often" when it mattered

Meanwhile, both the pitch and the bowlers' run-ups are under covers. Looks precautionary as only part of the square is under covers as opposed to it being covered in its entirerity

Wasn’t there a post here a few days ago praising the IPL for producing exciting batsmen like Gill and Jaiswal? Meanwhile, I am looking at Brook, Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett…

Prasidh to Jacob Bethell, out Bowled!! The middle stump is knocked out of the ground. Jacob Bethell tried to break-free and played a rash shot. Stepped for a smash through cover, under-edge onto the middle stump. Bethell's struggle ends and England wouldn't mind Smith coming on and attacking the bowlers straightaway.

Prasidh to Root, out Caught by Dhruv Jurel!! Oh edged, Jurel had to dive to the right and he pouches it safely. Well, well, the set Joe Root has been removed when both the bowlers are getting some movement and troubling the batters. Is there a twist to this game? Root's habit of dabbing to third man brings about his downfall. This was a short of length delivery outside off stump, Root got sucked into a push away from the body as it left him off the pitch. Thick edge that kind of lobbed but Jurel made no mistake. Two quick wickets and India have a bit more hope now. Root walks off after a sensational innings but he will be disappointed he didn't finish the job

Root c Dhruv Jurel b Prasidh 105(152) [4s-12]

Prasidh to Jamie Overton, no run
Appeal for caugth behind. Was it a bump call though? Gill was more animated than the bowler and the keeper. Umpires converge and send it upstairs. Ball has gone under the bat. Looks like there is a gap between bat and ball says Rod Tucker. Seems like the ball has bounced after passing the bat Not out!

This break should help Pommies as they were pretty stagnant since Bethel fell..

17:29 Local Time, 16:29 GMT, 21:59 IST:

The light metres are coming out and the umpires take the players off the field for bad light. India were obviously not going to bowl spin and carry on - not sure if the light was good enough for that either. Covers being brought on

Day 4: Play stopped due to bad light
