Name a single player from the West Indies that has improved over the last 20 years outside of Gayle, Sarwan, Shiv and Roach.

Jayden Seales

I’ll add another….Shamar Joseph

And another……Akeal Hosein

And another…..Keacy Carty in ODI’s

Beats me how we hold a coach entirely responsible for WI failures when we hastily assemble disparate players plying their trade in various cricket leagues.

Insularity is preventing us from seeing and thereby confronting the real issues plaguing WI cricket.

I am convinced that the bulk of the problems stems from without WI cricket structure.

It will take thinking outside the box and rejig to domestic competitions, player development & retention to turn this around while the board continues to lobby the ICC in the interest of cricket, greater fairness with disbursements, world tournaments and the various T20 leagues

This is among the lamest of excuses.

1 - This is the world of global sport. How long does a national team football coach have players for prior to international tournaments?

Often times it’s a matter of days IF THEY’RE LUCKY!

This is the reality in international team sport. Having players for extended periods to attend camp is a luxury afforded to very few. If you can’t manage in this reality, you shouldn’t be in the job.

2 - West Indies found themselves in this situation for the tour of Ireland and England earlier this year. We lost our first ODI to Ireland and immediately people started talk about “lack of preparation etc”.

Well we were in Ireland a full 3 weeks before the start of the first England ODI. We had all of our selected players in camp and available. We played 2 of 3 ODI’s against Ireland, won 1, lost 1, and 1 was abandoned due to weather.

We promptly proceeded to lose every match in the England series ODI’s and T20’s. A 6-0 black wash.

We can’t complain about lack of prep when we had all the prep we needed, and then some, in the Ireland series.

Stop the excuses. Or if you must make excuses, at least come with something original.

Agreed but they focus is on one Man alone.

BTW Motie had a great game with bat and ball and is usually a safe catcher until that blemish. However its these blemishes under pressure that is costing us games.

1. Did the "coach" not say he was intent on being the one to "assemble disparate players plying their trade in various cricket league" to the joy of many here? Now it is an excuse being touted by you and accepted by the loudest mouth in the penny section, Devoid of Reason?

2. How many teams have the luxury of their players not going all over the world to play in various cricket leagues? It is 21st century cricket.

3. Did you feel this supportive about Coley's stint? If yes, where did you voice said support?

4. The team that has been assembled was selected by the coach as well.

5. The selector/coach knows full well the ills of West Indies cricket administration when he took the job......deeze grapes are sour.

Insularity is preventing us from seeing and thereby confronting the real issues plaguing WI cricket.

Agreed, but note that insularity comes in all stripes.

Regarding The OneWhoLacksReason and BlindSightedness replies should be one word- Shameless! Every other "failed Coach" got the team to be competitive from time to time. This one? Either from start of play or by halfway through the game you can already tell the result, a losss.

Imusic, don't they have 3 years of friendlies, FIFA qualies, Euro and SA cup games to mold the Teams. I agree that the current coach should be given the ODI qualifying as a target to be able to keep his job. I don't think he should be the Test coach though.
