You could add, should that determination be based purely on stats?

I'd want to say Holder in red ball and Bravo in white, but that's not entirely true, a lot of coulda woulda shouldas with Bravos test career AND quality of opposition, Bravo never got to pad stats against Bangladesh, Zim and Afghanistan and only played 40 Tests arguably before his prime, and never got to peak in Tests.

If you'd asked me 5 years ago I'd have said Bravo superior to Holder no question but... Holder's game has improved in recent years.

I can't pick between the two

He is also the second West Indian, after Sir Garfield Sobers, to attain both 2500 runs and 150 wickets in Tests. Holder was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Bravo is the best bowling all- rounder since Sobers.

Holder is the best batting all-rounder since Bravo.

Talent wise the man from Carenage, BERNARD DENIS JULIEN by a mile. However due to the sins of the flesh he did not fulfill his amazing talents leading Clive Lloyd to lament the INEXPLICABLE WASTE OF TALENT.
In Under 19 cricket he did a true imitation of the mercurial Barron. He bowled Left arm fast medium moving the ball both ways, then returned bowling both wrist and orthodox while scoring centuries fuh spite. He then moved seamlessly into senior cricket with centuries at Karachi and Lords and a 5 wicket haul at Kensington before he decided that smoking, drinking and womanizing could be mingled with playing elite sport.

Bravo is the best bowling all- rounder since Sobers.

Holder is the best batting all-rounder since Bravo.

If that’s the case, why does Bravo have better batting stats than Holder in 2 of the 3 formats?

Bernard Julien was indeed a talent. He would have made a good living in today’s environment.

Bowled left arm seam…….like Sobers…..was a more than capable right hand bat……very good in the field. Was seen as Sobers’ natural successor, if not the magnitude of achievements.

He definitely had the tools. His decision to go on that South Africa tour had tragic consequences for him and the other players.

those are negligible you think 29 to 30 batting average is that big a diference in tests and 24 to 25 in odi's are that significant

If we're going to go with coulda shoulda woulda I would throw Dre Russ in the mix yes he's a cow lasher but if you look at his defensive technique man could actually bat not to mention hit 90mph when bowling!!!

Just like Kerry Packer and the Rebel Tour WI lost too many talented players to leagues and the IPL!!!

Be serious dude.

Calling Viv Richards an allrounder is like saying Joe Root is an allrounder.

Viv Richards bowled only to speed up the over rate and simultaneously give the fast bowlers a rest.

If you calling Viv Richards an all rounder, then Larry Gomes was an all rounder too.

As I said……be real.
