ganga was a mental thing, not helped by the fact that the selection of openers wasn't very steady aside from gayle. partially his fault.

Ganga’s success at FC level came almost solely at the 3-4 batting position

Much like Shai Hope (for a short time) after him, he was put to open because he was deemed to be technically competent and mostly because there was no room elsewhere in the batting order.

Both were sacrificed for the needs of the team. Ganga more so than Hope as Hope only opened the batting 6 times in tests.

Who are you talking about, Shai. He has definitely under performed as a test bat. But as a white ball player he is definitely one of the best. You cannot denied this.
