HEADLINE: Nixon blasts CWI over injured Greaves

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons coach Paul Nixon has accused Cricket West Indies (CWI) of being "disrespectful" and "unprofessional".

His ire came as a result of allrounder Justin Greaves' unavailability through injury. Greaves has not played in any of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matches to date and has not played any cricket since the West Indies series win against Pakistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA) in Tarouba, San Fernando, a little over two weeks ago.

Nixon spoke to reporters after his team went under to the Trinbago Knight Riders for the first time on Wednesday night at the BLCA, where he vented about not knowing the correct extent of the Barbadian’s injury.

"I'm very disappointed that we've had no communication with CWI in their backroom department for Greaves to come in to us a bit injured, more than a bit injured. So, that was disappointing. And just before the game, we found out these things.

don't expect transparency from the cwi and greaves seems to be injury prone

If Greaves was playing for the Kings, this would not have been an issue

Sometimes injuries/sickness reported to the board by players is privileged communication and cannot be disclosed due to the nature of the illness.

Nixon is a nut case...looks like Ambrose stays far from him

if Greaves is contracted to play for Falcons, why cant he inform the management of his injury himself?? Why does CWI, a third party, have to do so in possible breach of confidentiality?????

Excellent point!!! It is not CWI's job to disclose that information unless they were given clearance by Greaves and his Management team. Nixon needs to focus on what available options he has to fix the opening conundrum that the Falcons have as Cornwall is not the answer. Try Jangoo? Try somebody else as time is running out on their season.

Speaking of disrespect if Nixon was in India would he have disrespected the BCCI this way?
