Trinbago Knight Riders have won the toss and have opted to field

Nicholas Pooran:
We are going to have a bowl first. There was a lot of dew in the last game and helped the batters at the backend. They love the game so much, we have a goal in our mind and we to achieve that we have to come together and do our jobs. Somethings you don't forget, it is a new year and we want to play the best cricket tonight. Same team.

Rovman Powell:
I feel our guys are not match ready but also few of our guys have played a lot of cricket and the rest is important for them. We have batted well in patches, hopefully we can stretch it to longer patches and it is important the West Indies batters stand up and be counted. We have to see the first six overs, it is always challenging and hopefully we have wickets in hand which will help us press on. One change - Chris Green comes in.

Pitch and Conditions:
"We had a shower of rain just a few hours ago but it is all clear now and the temperature is around 29 degrees. The most important thing is there is less wind today compared to the last game. Dimensions - 64 meters either side and 74 down the ground. The pitch looks very good. The dew is going to be a challenge for the bowlers tonight," reckons Ian Bishop.

Lets go Narps ...TKR on the wagon..

Barbados Royals XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Brandon King, Kadeem Alleyne, Rovman Powell (capt), Sherfane Rutherford, Shaqkere Parris, Daniel Sams, Ramon Simmonds, Chris Green, Eathan Bosch, Jomel Warrican

Trinbago Knight Riders XI: Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Keacy Carty, Nicholas Pooran (capt & wk), Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, Mohammad Amir, Ali Khan, McKenny Clarke

The two teams are heading in opposite directions this season. The home team, the Trinbago Knight Riders, are flying high with three wins from four matches, currently sitting in third place. A victory today would send them straight to the top of the standings. They are on a winning streak, looking for their third consecutive win after a decisive eight-wicket victory against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, thanks to Amir's brilliant new-ball spell and Carty's heroics with the bat. On the other side, the Barbados Royals are still the only team in the CPL without a win this year. To keep their playoff hopes alive, they desperately need to get back to winning ways. Their last match ended in a washout against the St Lucia Kings, resulting in shared points. The head-to-head stats heavily favour the Knight Riders, who have won four of the last five matches between these two sides.

7:53 pm The stadium is an absolute sea of red as the crowd continues to arrive in huge numbers, causing massive traffic around the venue for the last three hours. The wait is almost over! The umpires have now collected the match ball and are making their way out to the pitch, with the home team right behind them.

Johann Layne: "It feels good to be home. The CPL gave me the opportunity to play for the first time, and being home is always a good thing. I don't think we're too flustered after only two games, and with one being a washout. Tonight is a good opportunity for us to get a win on the board and gain some momentum. The Breakout League was good for me. The surface here in Trinidad is different from what I'm used to, so I had to adjust by bowling a little further back. The pitch was really good. Once I get the opportunity, I'm confident I can perform today. [On the Crowd] Trinidad, overall, has a really good atmosphere and good vibes. I think tonight will be a great game."

Pitch Report from Ian Bishop: "We're here at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in South Trinidad. We had a shower of rain at about 5 to 6 pm local time, but the covers have been removed. The forecast is for about 29 degrees Celsius, with the wind at only 8 kilometres per hour, much less than the 20 kilometres per hour we saw in the last game. We are on the same pitch as the previous match. The square boundaries are 64 metres on either side, and the straight boundary is 74 metres. The pitch looks very good, and in the five night games played here since 2022, only two have been won batting first, showing a clear trend of teams winning while chasing. Tonight's biggest challenge will be the dew and moisture. When the ball rolls across the outfield, it picks up moisture, making the spinners' hands feel like a bar of soap, causing the ball to slide across the surface and onto the bat. This, along with the recent rainfall, will be the main challenge for the bowlers tonight."

Rovman Powell: "A few of our guys aren't quite match-ready, but others have been playing a lot of cricket, so the rest has been very important for them. [Batting] I think we've gone pretty good. We have batted well in patches, and hopefully, we can stretch those little patches for a bit longer. It's important for our key players and our international batters to stand up and be counted. The approach is to see what we can get in the first six overs. It's always challenging to bat in the first innings here. Hopefully, after that, we have enough wickets in hand to press on. We have one change. Chris Green comes in, and young fast bowler Johann Layne misses out."

Nicholas Pooran: "We're going to have a bowl first. Obviously, after the last game, there was a lot of dew in the back end, and we'll have to see how that affects the pitch today. The challenge of keeping so many experienced players fit throughout the tournament is simply the love of the game. They love the game so much. We have a goal in mind, and all of us have to come together and do our jobs. So far, the campaign has been really nice, and we've been able to share different experiences and grow closer as a team. [Last season Match against the Royals] We don't forget some things, but it's a new year for us, and our goal is to be the best cricket team we can. We have the same lineup today. No changes."

Akeal Hosein to de Kock, no run, loud shout for LBW. Hosein and Pooran have a long chat, they send it upstairs with 1 second to go. Where is the impact? Seems to be outside off. Nothing on UltraEdge. Impact is outside off. Trinbago Knight Riders lose a review. Sharp turn for Hosein, de Kock prods forward and is beaten on the inside edge, struck around the kneeroll but he had gotten his leg outside off-stump

Hosein to de Kock, no run
Massive turn, beaten by the flight, and an enthusiastic appeal turned down by the umpire! Generously flighted length ball outside off, grips off the surface and turns in on the stumps, plays across the line off the front foot, misses the line of the ball and hits the front pad. After a long discussion between Pooran and Akeal, they decide to send it upstairs. Ultra Edge confirmed no bat is involved. Pitching outside and impact just outside off. Knight Riders lose their first review.

Akeal Hosein to de Kock, FOUR, de Kock and Barbados are off the mark. A drag down from Hosein, might have been the attempted carrom ball and de Kock pounces, pulls it off the front foot past mid-wicket and beats the fielder in the deep

Amir to Brandon King, no run, dropped!Amir is livid with himself. He got both hands but the ball does not stick. Low full toss at the stumps, King drives off the bottom of the bat and hits it straight back at Amir, he reacts quickly and gets his hands up but can't hold on

Dropped by Amir! A low full toss ball nips back in on the stumps, plays off the front foot and connects the toe end of the bat, chips it straight back to Amir at waist height, and Amir fails to hold on to it!

Akeal Hosein to de Kock, 6 runs, oh no! That's unfortunate. de Kock won't be complaining. He works this in front of long-on and calls for two, King responds and Hales swoops down, sends in a direct-hit at the striker's end but de Kock was in and the ball deflects away to the fence. The third umpire is checking it if 5 or 6, rule says - If the ball is released before the batters cross for the second then it will be 5. They are checking if de Kock and King had crossed when King let go of the ball. Yes, they had crossed and it will be 6

Back of a length ball on the pads, hangs back and turns it down towards midwicket for a couple of runs, Hales comes around from long on and sends a throw at the striker's end, hits the timber and ricochets past the keeper and the backup fielder, races away to the third man ropes.

Ali Khan to de Kock, OUT
Clened him up and uprooted the middle stump!
A tad fuller length ball with the angle shaping in and attacking the stumps. QDK attempts to play it straight down the track; the ball hits the deck and zips through past bat-pad and knocked over the stumps!
