Hodge gone too! Caught at short leg off Patel, West Indies lose their third as the centurion from the first innings fails to repeat his earlier effort, dismissed for a duck this time around.

WI 88/3, three wickets fall for one run, New Zealand scent victory as the tourists start to struggle.

Ajaz Patel to Kavem Hodge, out Caught by Ravindra!! Blinder from Ravindra! That's come straight off the bat face and he holds on with the second attempt at short leg. Wicket out of nothing basically. Tossed up outside leg, Hodge defends into the on-side but doesn't keep it down.

@Chrissy

Now was the time for the captain to come in

@Chrissy

From 87-0 to 89-3.

😬

@dayne

Exactly! Alas, the shockingly out of form Chase will stay in the pavilion and sends Athanaze instead.

Sun, Dec 21, '25 at 6:31 PM

The weakness against spin is exposed once more...

Patel's figures:

10-5-10-2

And it was almost worse...Athanaze lucky not to fall to his very first ball, almost chopped onto the stumps...

@Narper

Athanaze out for two.

No surprise there.

Jacob Duffy to Athanaze, out Caught by Blundell!! Wickets falling in a heap now! From 87/0, West Indies have slipped to 91/4. Loose drive from Athanaze, his front foot doesn't go anywhere as he looks to drive on the up and the ball straightens a touch as well from round the wicket.

Athanaze c Blundell b Jacob Duffy 2(9)

Athanaze fails once again. When his team needed him, he let them down. West Indies folding like a broken deck chair here...91/4...four wickets for four runs...

Duffy pitches it up, wobble seam, and the ball seams away as Athanaze looks to drive and gets an edge behind. 😁

Still no sign of the skipper Chase. In comes Greaves who must be wondering what is going on...30 mins or so of terrible batting by the tourists after such a strong start.

Sun, Dec 21, '25 at 6:41 PM

Anybody suprised ?
