@TanteMerle

firstly we need two openers who we can at least get 50 runs from. More importantly, we need them to get the shine off the new ball. Hope cannot be coming in with us facing a still new cherry with nothing on the board. One of those openers has to have the license to attack. Hit the bowlers off their lines. Get the shine off the ball. The next opener has to get out this insecurity and Kraigg induced habit of just defending. Rotate the strike. That not that difficult to do. If you reach 50 without loss, the bowlers start to lose confidence and batting becomes a little easier

If all rounder means he can neither bowl nor bat, then JHo fits the bill

Greaves should hold down the all rounder pick in test cricket for awhile

Hope

Imlach as keeper and cappo

Seales

S Joseph

after that throw the names in a hat and pick

@Jumpstart

Braffit and Tage should never see Windies cricket test team again.

Josh is a better option for opener than Brafft.

Why not have josh as an openner and play another keeper.

@sudden

Not sure about Imlach as cappo,

although Chase seems not up to the challenge.

Captaining Windies is a poison chalice.

The team for now (if i had to pick)

  1. Campbell
  2. Josh
  3. King
  4. Hope
  5. Chase
  6. Greavs
  7. Imlach
  8. Mootie/Warrican/Cucaracha
  9. S. Joseph
  10. A. Joseph
  11. Seales

Reserves

  1. Phillips
  2. Wickham
  3. Two of the Mootie/Warrican/Cucaracha combo.

Spinning wicket Mootie/Warrican

Fast wicket Cucaracha

Now this is my pick at present.

There are still 3 games to go,

I have Chase in because he is the cappo.

My pick is not who is deserving, but who I think Scammy will pick.

Remember that this is subject to change with injuries and results from last 3 games.

@TanteMerle

So you picking Josh over Wickham base on a score on the flattest pitch in the whole world??? OK!

Thu, Apr 30, '26 at 1:06 PM

@sudden

Imlach as WHAT???? Are you under some strong rum or something?

Thu, Apr 30, '26 at 1:27 PM

@StumpCam

you know josh was the 2nd highest run maker in the fc tournament last year right....and he did not make less than 30 in the entire series in his 3 opportunities at the wicket

Thu, Apr 30, '26 at 2:44 PM

@TanteMerle

My pick is not who is deserving, but who I think Scammy will pick.

Having Josh in your team immediately and completely invalidates your statement above

@TanteMerle

King can’t bat or catch how about Jangoo

Campbell can’t bat pick another

Tarnish as opener would be worth it to see if he is the best player of fast bowling in the WI as some purport

Chase is a jokah smokah

Fri, May 1, '26 at 1:52 PM

@StumpCam

Well, one may argue that Wickham scored 3 centuries versus a weak attach

on flat pitches.

I am picking the above team today.

Like I said, the rest of the games may see me picking different.

Wickham was very disappointing las year,

I do realize that he was dealing with grief.

Fri, May 1, '26 at 1:56 PM

@sudden

I picked based on the games thus far.

Also I considered who played the last series and decide is to drop any.

Tage is definitely dropped forever in my books.

King played one game and scored a 50 in a losing effort.

He was unlucky in the first innings.

Thus I cannot drop him.

Although I love Jangoo,

He scored a double against the weakest attack.

Jangoo has 1 (possibly 2) more game(s) to prove his worth.

@TanteMerle

Wickham made 3 tons before the age of 21, plus a 50 over ton, during that time he had an injury and as you posted suffer the loss of his dad. if we discount his 3 tons against the same team on dead tracks, is he still a candidate for a test pick?

By the way he looks like a player who can go to the next level.

Fri, May 1, '26 at 3:48 PM

@TanteMerle

It ok to bat at 7 and 8, but when this same player moves up the order many times he failed because the bowlers are fresh and you are playing against swinging deliveries that are hard to play early in the innings.
